ok who here has seen the latest pontiac commercial? just talks about the car for a few seconds and talking about red. then it says the grand prix has got new red shoes.. ya red brake calipers... is it just me or are they copying us all of a sudden?

 

They hope people will think they're brembos or something... so yeah pretty much mimicking cars that come stock with high performance brakes.

I love the Pontiac commercial where they pick on a base model Lancer and compare it to their top of the line GTP. They should try their GTP against and Evo and then see who is lacking power, handling, and braking

 

i saw the one with the lancer a couple of days ago, and they said that their car has style and that the other car(lancer) does not. first of all that pontiac looked like crap and everybody is always asking me what car i have and that they really like it.

I personally think the car is bad *** looking and the specs are even more impressive. And word on the GM streets that after a couple years they are bringing back The Judge.

 

If thats the way you look at it, wouldn't that mean that Mitsu was copying Porsche & Ferrari??? They both have used red calipers for quite some time, and in the case of Ferrari, red Brembos even. Its not like Mitsu was the first to do it. I do agree its prety lame using it as a marketing tool, but I highly doubt Mitsu was the cause for inspiration.

Im all about great cars, regardless of the company that builds them. I find it funny that 20 years ago, everyone was ra-ra about domestic nameplates and laughed at Japanese cars. Now its just the opposite, people will denounce any car from an American car company and assume any car from Japan is pure gold.

Quite frankly the attitude pisses me off. People will sit here and complain that U.S. automakers just dont get it, but then when they do slam a decent car together (SVT Focus, SRT-4, Saturn Ion Redline, etc) everyone just denounces it as "an American piece of crap." Honestly, Ive read on posts on this board calling Corvettes pieces of crap. This amuses me because

1. Up until the Evo and the STI's intorduction to the U.S. market, the Corvette was the best high performance bang for the buck

2. The people calling the Corvette a piece of crap drive Lancer OZs. Dont give me wrong I drive one and love it, but it is no where close to the Vette in any department. Its like someone living in a glas house throwing a rock at a bomb shelter....

Ill end this rant with this. People proclaim Japanese cars to the "****," yet fail to see the facts. Yes, the new KA motors are now accepted as being worthy successors to the B series, but no one can deny that Honda took a step back with the Civic chassis. The previous generation sported double wishbone suspension, while the new one is sprung on McPherson struts. Now no one complains that Honda took a step back, but when Pontiac tries to make advances, such as little items like red calipers or new cars like the Solstice, people just talk smack and call it crap. How in the hell does that make any sense?

Honestly, if you cant see the promise of a small rear drive cheap coupe like the Solstice, you really need to get a better understanding of cars.

(Im sure alot of you reading this are saying "yea Honda is crap, but thats why I like Mitsu, they are awsome." Need I mention what happened to the Eclipse after the 2nd Gens??? Nuff said)

the exhaust is messed up on that car and its ugly as hell... BLAH!
