Mustang and Camaro... turbo...
Maybe this is hypothetical and maybe not, but I thought it would be a good discussion. It looks like both Mustang and Camaro will be offering some interesting engine choices when the revised models come out in 2014 (maybe).
So, if both Mustang and Camaro offered the choice of a 400hp V8, a 350hp turbo V6, or a 300hp turbo I4, which would you choose and why?
Would you give up your Evo for it?

I am a rampant Camaro fan and this isn't a hard choice. I would t put a V8 in my Evo, an as such, wouldn't put an I4 in my Camaro. I enjoy them for what they each are; a rocket and a monster.
If you plan to go farther in the future with an aftermarket FI setup (blower or turbo) for the V8, well, then that would probably be the right choice.
The only downside I see is I don't want to drive a Mustang or a Camaro with a 6 cylinder sound.
Before I purchased my evo I was dead set on buying a 2013 mustang gt and throwing a twin turbo set up on it. These guys have done some awesome work and made some amazing power with track times to back it up.
I'd never buy a muscle car with a v6 btw.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Sound example:
Never cared for the Evo exhaust note. At the end of mine I ran it full time with a silencer.
Voted v6-t. Granted that wont be the motor. Its going to be a I4-t (like the one found in the Focus ST).
Affirmative, I was comparing to the V8.
V8>V6>I4 as far as sound is concerned. I don't think any 4 cylinders exhausts sound good. I have heard a couple that sound decent, but nothing I would write home about. I've heard a few setups on 6 cylinders that sound good, but none that are great.
I heart the sound of a blown Cobra or a cammed LS motor car. I had a Bassani exhaust on my Terminator and that's one of my favorite sounds.
The pinnacle of production-car audible bliss, in my opinion, is something along the lines of the Carrera GT or the LFA. High revving V8's and V10's give me a stiffy.
Fast forward to about 1:36

I'm actually looking forward to the possibility of a 4 cyl turbo Mustang or Camaro. The SVO has always been one of those models I've always wished that I had owned. Now maybe I'll have that chance.
There are so many cars out there at the two extremes of performance and fuel economy, but so few RWD cars that attempt to have both good performance and good fuel economy.

I know the I4T is pretty much a sure thing but last I heard a V6TT option was still a likely possibility, too, but not sure where Ford would try to slot it in the line-up. Ford has also said that the V8 isn't going away.
I think V6 engines sound awful in general, and remind me of early nineties Chevy Berettas and Corsicas, but I don't like V8s either. My vote for second worst exhaust note of all time is the Nissan VQ, which sounds like blatty Chewbacca. The only thing worse to my ears was the Ford 4.6 V8 in older Mustangs. Those scream NASTRUCK.
I love inline engines. A 4G63 with a big turbo that can zing to 9000rpm is my idea of symphony.

I'd pick the V8, hands down. Thats what the mustangs and camaros are, V8 powered pony cars (muscle). When you take V8's out of the equation, its not the same. I would never buy a V6 powered camaro or mustang, turbo'd or not.
I like the sounds of V8s but I definitely agree that the Ford 4.6L sounded like ****. If I'm going to buy a "muscle car" it's going to have a V8. I have a buddy with a V6 Camaro and it sounds like ****. I can't stand something like that having anything but a V8 in it. When it comes to a V6, I only like hearing japanese inline sixes..the VQ is okay but it doesn't compare (in my opinion) to the sound of an RB or a 2J. Back to the original question..I would take a GT500 if I had to choose.
Grand National v6 makes silly power. Ive seen very quick SC park avenues . If the mustang is going to be smaller and lighter. I would go with the turbo 6, i drive a turbo sprinter and i could listen to the turbo whine all day
