I love our evo, but if I could trade for this and a few k I might try.
What do you guys know about skyline reliability, costs, ect? I know the basics, just wondering what you all thought.

I would not touch that car with a 40 foot pole....
It's a GT-S, which is a rear wheel drive, 2.0 turbo. The engine is reliable as anything else on the road in stock tune. but it's a 22 year old japanese import... things are going to wear out and brake.

agreed. I had offers from Skyline people when i was trying to sell my old yellow evo. It seems like a good idea at first but when you think about it there is alot to go wrong on that old of a car ad the parts are hard to track down. The only way i could own any Skyline if it was a weekend car, not primary. That way if it does have problems i can wait for the parts and not have to worry about not having a mode of transportation.

Edit: Off topic post, my bad. No don't swap for a GTS. Maybe for a very clean R32 GTR that is genuinely legal. Imagine swapping a badass evo for a car that gets seized and crushed. It would be pretty gutting ending up with nothing.
Yes, a user on here knows a lot about it (hatesposers). Google a company called motorex, they were in the business of legally importing and modifying skylines for US roads. The company has gone under but it is a really good read. Before you get too interested in doing it the cost is astronomical (easily in the hundreds of thousands), its only really viable if you intend to prepare multiple vehicles of the same model and sell the extras off.
As for sourcing parts, I have a similar problem with my evo. It's more about pricing than availability though. I buy all my parts online from overseas (mostly from the US admittedly), no problem.
Bonus tip: You don't want a R33.

Um. BAD IDEA. I've seen real r32's in the states with RB26 swaps. Now that's what you should trade for. Otherwise, keep what you have. It's not worth it. That's just a GT-S, it's old, the post looks kinda shady, god knows what type of mechanical problems you're gonna run into with such an old car. Then you have Smog, and all that other rego crap if this is the real deal. You know what I mean, no hard feelings over here man, just my .02
echo sentiments previously posted.. I have lived in Japan for 6+ years now... this is what i can tell you.
-RB20DET is garbage
-RB20 transmissions are complete and utter garbage
-car is RWD and heavy=low 16, high 15 second car in a quater mile, stock. ask me how I know.
-personally I don't even care for the GTR's either

Dont do it...Looks shady. Plus if its not legally registered you can be in a crap ton of trouble like someone said earlier. Another 3 years then it will be completely legal to drive...er 2 years I guess now.
