Evo for all out performance ... G35 for luxury & 8/10ths performance.

Seriously though I am 2nd guessing my decision on buying an Evo because it is a little tiring on anything more than a 45min drive, especially when I have to drive from point A to point B and some restraint and driving agressivness must be reduced. After driving my wifes Acura TL the other day it was nice and comfortable and I did'nt realize how rough the Evo really is.

Driven agressively nothing beats the Evo, it is NIRVANA but you can't drive that way all the time and expect to keep you drivers License.

I am thinking that maybe something like a G35 would have been a better comprimise for a daily driver. Just my 2 cents !

The other day I was driving down the turnpike at grandma speeds, and a G35 driver literally slowed from 85mph to slower than grandma so I could catch back up so he could check out my Evo.
I test drove both, and chose Evo no question. I think the G sucks as a luxury car (although it looks like one) and is okay as a sports car IMHO. Evo is a great car. Love it.

Also just an FYI The g35 coupe should also be available in AWD just like the sedan by the end of the year.

Well.. a few more things to consider.. G35 has a much better resale value than Evolution.. and unlike 350Z drivers who are starting to not really like their rides.. I haven't really heard of any G35 drivers who are changing to Evo's..
I'm now wondering how harsh is it gonna be to have Evo has a daily driver (including 3 hr highway driving - 6 hr back and forth - every week)

ehh..

get the evo. what community do you want to be a part of? the evo community who's more focused on car performance, or a g35 community that's more in it to flaunt? substance over style?

and then you can't go out of your house without seeing nine million g35s anyway. if you're not going to tell us what you're looking for in a car, how can we write biased opinions? we could say how well it handles, and you'll be thinking "but it's so rough". get the evo... you should be deciding on colors, not cars.

From what I've read, the AWD version is strictly a traction package option, not a performance package and will slow the car down due to added weight. They are trying to compete with BMW, benz and others who offer AWD for those who want safety in winter driving and an alternative to SUVs. I have not heard of the coupe getting it, but I would rather have the RWD version of the G any day over the AWD package.

i thought it had the much-loved attessa-ets (sp?) system, which is more performance oriented?

actually you are both right.......it is a version of attesa AWD.....HOWEVER, it is not nearly the same setup as is on the skyline......the review in Car and Driver proclaimed better winter/bad weather traction as the purpose for the AWD feature of the G35. Also, in all the straight line performance categories, the RWD G35 beat the AWD G35. both somehwhat correct
I would go with RWD if it were me though, regardless of whether I got 2 or 4 door.

I bet the awd G35 will be similar to the 3 series XI.

I test drove a G35 1 year ago. It was a fully loaded red one with tan leather, Brembo's, 18" wheels, sunroof, rear spoiler, navigation system, 6 speed & listed for like $38K. It was exactly like you'd imagine: comfortable, luxurious, high tech, yet performance oriented. Once inside the car, it wasn't that different from a V6 Honda Accord coupe though. Perfect car if you plan to be on the road for any long trips. It was even able to seat 4 of us 200 lb guys since it had a backseat (vs 350Z). BOTTOM LINE FOR ME WAS...the G35 stayed on my mind for about a day after the test drive, where I absolutely couldn't STOP THINKING about the test driving experience I had in the EVO! If you've test driven both cars and are still unsure, then it really boils down to WHAT YOU USE YOUR CAR FOR. If given the choice between a fully loaded G35 or an EVO as a daily driver and cost was not an issue, I'm afraid it might come down to a coin toss my friend!

Test drove a G35 coupe 6sp a while back. I like the overall value, performance and the looks but I bet you will be tired of it within half a year. As a matter of fact, I saw one yesterday and felt that its starting to look kind of old. Also, got a chance drive the new Acura TL. I love the looks, finish and the value than the G35. Its almost in the same level as BMW and Audi. But after driving it, the FWD torque steer made me not think about it anymore. But if I was looking for a 2nd car, it would definetely be the new TL Spec-A

However, my Evo gives me pleasure everyday. Excluding the fact that it makes a hole in my wallet. Yes, the interior quality, final finish of the car and the annoying rattles is a annoying factor. But for 30K I don't think there's a car out there which could outhandle almost any car and give me enough power(stock) for everyday sprited driving while having the ability of carrying four adult passengers.
