Get the EVO!!!!

You said yourself that you have wanted an EVO for 2 years and are not thinking of changing your mind. Don't you will regret it. Like many others, I too was deciding on the G35 or the EVO. I thought about maybe an STI or an RX8, but not really. It was always the EVO or the G35...and we are talking about the G35 coupe here. Not a fan of the looks of the sedan, but come on the coupe is HOT...one of the set looking cars I have seen...

I had been wanting the EVO for probably 5 years. I am a rally fan and have been following it for some time and yes I played the rtalley games on playstation and got myself an EVO and modded it out.... Then all of a sudden a couple years ago the G35 comes out, it is in my price range and it looks nice...however I hear about the coupe coming out soon, so i wait.....then the coupe comes out and it is just plain beautiful...but then I hear that the EVO is coming out "for real this time"....(been hearing rumors for years)...so I wait...

I am a huge fan of the G35 coupe, but come on this is an EVO we are talking about the car I have wanted for 5 years and the car you have wanted for 2 years. I still get excited everytime I get in my EVO. I love to wash and wax it. I love to drive it. I can even love to drive it in the winter which is where you can have some serious fun. The only thing I don't like is no cruise for long trips. But I do not regret my purchase of the EVO and I know you won't either. I can honstely say that if I had bought the G35 I would be kicking myself right now...there is just something to be said for owning an EVO...you can't really explain it until you own one...

Oh - and did I mention that your 3 friends will be able to sit confortabily in the EVO with their golf clubs in the trunk and enjoy it with you...

I am 6'2'' and did not have a problem in either car when driving. However the people in the back seat had much less room in the G35 than in the EVO.

Did I mention that all my friends LOVE my EVO. They all want to ride in it and drive it. The only people who think I made the wrong decision is my parents who are older and just don't get it...heck they do not even know what an EVO is.... my dad keeps telling people I bought a Lancer (which is true - but as we know does not tell the whole story)....

GET THE EVO....IT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY AND IT IS FUN..... isn't that what life is about fun and happiness....

I guess I am getting older myself because I am seriously thinking of trading in my Evo for a G35 Coupe or '04 TL 6speed. I think if I where a few years younger I wouldnt mind the beating the Evo gives me when I have to drive from point A to point B. Honestly performance wise this car is at the top of the food chain no doubt and I seriously doubt an STI can compare. Its just that when I need to relax from a long days work this car doesnt even come close to relaxing me. What makes the car so amazing a sports ( race) car is also what I hate about it.

The razor sharp steering is great for driving an autocross or driving agressively however requires your complete 110% focus when you just want to get home. The car tram lines on every single groove and rut in the road, you feel every single pebble through he wheel.

The stiff suspension transmits every single groove, bump, rut and vibration through the stiff recaros into your spine. The recaros are awesome but after sitting in the G35 seat I couldnt believe how much softer and seemingly more comfortable they are.

The tire noise, wind noise, exaust noise completely connect you to your surroundings but become very tiresome on a trip longer than 45min.

Again I cant reiterate enough If I where driving this car just on the weekends to race, it doesnt get any better. I can even say that when I make my 30 min commute to work in the morning a I sometimes walk into my office with a big **** eating grin from driving the car. My coworkers just dont understand this and think I am out of my mind.

Its just that with the birth of twins 2 months away my priorities are changing a bit and I am thinking that if something where to happen to me as I am driving a bit fast on the highways I have 2 additional little people to be responsibile for.

So if you do make you decision of the Evo be aware that this is basically a factory preped race car for the street. As you can see I have owned alot of modern sports car over the past 15 years and this car is by far the most radical and makes my old S2000 and 300zx TT seem like little girly cars ... seriously.

Michael, swap it for the STi or get softer springs.

As for the original poster, I voted G35. If he doesn't know which car he wants then Evo is not for him.
I was torn between Evo and STi but once I laid my *** in the Evo i knew that was it.

I say go used Evo with 5000 miles. Seems like the resale value cannot keep its footing even at $24k. So rather than take a huge hit off the lot, save the depreciation money some mods.

You only live once. the G35 is nice but its on the boring side for my taste. Coming from a 350z, the g35 is pretty much the same, without the sex appeal.

The evo is a pure sports car. So what it may not look like a sexy ferrari or cool 350z. it is what it is and makes no apologies.

And its fairly cheaper to mod than a g35 or a 350z, vq engine. Wait until i get my hands on one.

I was honestly thinking about taking an STI for a ride .... just not sure If I really want to move to the dark side.

I looked at a G35 Coupe 6speed w/Brembos today it was pretty nice but the seats seem really spongy and soft. Much more so than a new '04 TL.

yea i say EVO ALL THE WAY... i was in the EVO / STI bind too but the EVO sold me as soon as i pull it off the lot for the test drive.

The G35 is a nice car but i think its just a 350 with more luxury.... the EVO stands out.... i just had to have one.....

hey, guyz, i just saw this post, and i currently have a 2003 CB g35 coupe with stillen full exhaust, and injen intake. I love the car. From my point of view, i would pick it over the EVO in most areas except a few. I like the evo's front mount intercooler and turbo. Drove jaredboy's EVO last week, and the turbo is awesome. I also like the sport/race seats. But when it comes down to performance I dont find them all that different. Don't get me wrong, the EVO is a fast car, and i'd love to have one, (i was even thinking about trading in my car for a day or 2), but i don't think i'd be worth it. You loose leather, looks(IMO), 2 wheel drive(if u liek to spin them once in a while ), it has a more classy interior, shorter throw shifter, digital controls, etc etc...and I was even surprised after not being on the g35 boards how much aftermarket is out there..granted greddy's turbo kit is 6800+installation, but you can tune that to over 450RWHP! Combine that performance with the luxurys and sportiness of the G, I think it is a great car, although the EVO you can prolly make fast for the same amount of money. It is all about what you want, and how much you want to spend.

I like the G35 exterior looks but leather seats are a con to me not a pro (have them in my accord and hate them), the performance of G is not comparable to the Evo in any aspect because you would have hard time beating my Accord (with a 6 speed). It's really not that fast. If you have an automatic, then you're slower, and it's a RWD!
It's too expensive for what you get because the interior quality unfortunately just isn't all that great.
With $7k the Evo would fly

so so true..... leather is not you friend sometimes looks good no doubt. i've been in a accord racing a 350... i thought the accord was gonna get crushed but it turned out being the other way around.... the G35 is a work of art no doubt but 6k for boost???? and on the stock internals only get 6-7 lbs max.... gimmie 6k to put in my EVO.....it won't be nice.

I absolutely agree that if you put 7k into an EVO, it would be insane. I am actually still tossing the idea of a trade-in for an EVO. I really like having a turbo(there are so many more possibilities with it, performance wise), I really liek the racing seats, and I think gas mileage will even be better with the 4 cyl, than the 6. I commute 53 miles each way to school, and gas is a killer.

I am going to keep kicking around the idea, and we will see what happens.

Ok, I assume you mean you can beat just the auto, because if your talking about the stick Ill go get my fathers G35 and we will race for slips, lol. Honestly, Ive driven both cars and the G35 is much quicker than a new Accord 6 speed. Not trying to bash your car, just stating a fact.

I didn't say 6speed G35 wasn't faster, it is, just not by much which I was personally disappointed with since it has more horse under the hood and is a rwd.
On the other hand I was expecting the Accord to be a lot slower.
I'm not sure how much the 6speed G35 runs 1/4mile but there were slips posted on the V6 Accord forums and manuals were averaging at 14.5.
I love it because of the great interior, good gas mileage (recommended fuel is regular!), it's almost noise free (Cx=0.29) and it's cheap to maintain.
When I bought mine it was a bit over $25.5k and it's fully loaded. G is way more expensive.
