the inf G35 is based on the 350z frame/drivetrain. they both have the 3.5L v6 and with the 6 speed, im not sure if the Z has the 6 but almost posotive that it does. both very nifty cars in my opinion.

Ok, everything you know is right. The 350 Z and the G35 coupe and sedan are built on the MR chassis, MR meaning mid engine rear wheel drive. The nex gen skyline will be built on the same platform, hence all you have been told is somewhat true...

The G35 is not a skyline. Apparently they're using the same VQ35 in the R35 GT-R which will be based on the same chassis as the 350z and G35. The ever popuar "skyline" name is apparently going to be separated from the GT-R name and it's losing the RB26DETT in favor of a V setup. Try running a search for R35 and you may come up with some pics and whatnot of the prototypes. You'll see.

thanks for the replies, i was looking around and the G35 is actually a Skyline V35 in some country other than the US lol. It's a car with the name Skyline but it's not the super sports car chassis, R34, instead it's just a sedan/luxury version that's not an R34. u get what im saying? lol thanks everyone

Ya, I heard that they call the G35 the R35 Skyline blah blah blah in Japan but then again I heard they're not related in any way except for, like Kopek said, they may share the new G35 chassis design. Plus, the G35 couldn't be a Skyline, it's not good enough.

A Skyline is indeed the Infiniti G35. Just like the Lancer, the Skyline has many different trim levels including base model versions. Just like the Evolution, the GTR is really only the top trim level (and like the evolution almost completly different from the lower levels).

If it had to be classified as a Skyline it'd be a GT-S. The RWD version. Generally not very impressive as their big brothers and generally not tuned as heavily.

G35, and 350Z are NOT MR cars. G35 and 350Z use the FM platfrom which means Front-Midship. the engine is mounted behind the Front wheels which gives the chassis a perfect 50/50 weight spilt, but the engine is still in the front, so they are FR(Front Engine rear wheel drive) cars. MR cars has the engine monuted behind the driver and in front of the rear wheels(MR2 for example). So dont confuse FM platform with MR drivetrain.

The GT-S is very popular among japan's drifters, while its engine is 0.1 liter smaller than the GTR's RB26DETT, it can be tuned to massive HP. At the same time GT-S loses the AWD system and the weight drop from 3400 some lbs to 2900 some lbs. Its a fast car. I think everyone in the U.S. dont think much about the GT-S is cause everytime the skyline name comes up, everyone thinks GTR right the way. However, GT-S is a very able car and its much cheaper than the GTR.

The GT-S's rock the RB25DETT, no? (Or is it not TT'd?)

I've NEVER seen a tuning site dedicated to GT-S's. That's about all I could hope to see from here in Jersey.

if u rent some japanese amatuer racing/drifting vids, u'll see so many of these skyline gt-s's, probably cause they are cheaper. you also see lots of Silvias (aka 240sx) and other Nissan cars...it's nuts but i think they're great cars. i wish my relatives in japan owned one of these cars
