I would just upgrade to the Nissan GTR but I like the older version R34 like the Fast and furious version without the decals

Ive been a Mercedes Benz tech for 10 years. From my experience and from driving and working on the new CLA my short answer is NO. That's just my .02 FWIW.

Drive it and you will not be able to do it. I went through the same situation with ac63 amg last year. Needless to say I still have my evo.

I was looking into getting a c63, but from what Ive personally seen that is common issues with that M156 engine, even with extended warranties and me being able to do the work, I still wouldn't bother with one. I do love how those seats snug you in though.

Again, this is purely my opinion, but here it goes. A person who drives an evo is only after performance. So therefore if you are going to upgrade, the only car worth upgrading to is a GTR. The evo is as direct feeling, go-kart like as you can get. The AWD and turbo coupled with a great chassis and an engine that can be pushed very hard can only, in my opinion be replaced FULLY with the gtr. There's no other car that will give you EVERYTHING the evo has to offer just better.

The x is a little too mainstream. It's become too popular and it looks like a car that blends in with society, i do like it don't get me wrong but it's as common as seeing a wrx or sti now where I'm from. I'd rather an m3 for a car that wants to be luxurious and performance based, where the X TRIED to be more luxurious/comfortable with some performance.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I did had a GTR and my evo at one point but doing the family thing now and was thinking a great 4 door. I know the new WRX is coming in 3 days but Subaru had really let me down after I had a 2010 SE STI but was impressed with the BRZ/FRS just no power nor brakes. Maybe adding a WRX would be good idea if it's in the $24,000 and people say it's evo like?

If the CLA45AMG drives like something in between the STI and Evo I may be interested but this car will be probably almost impossible to test drive due to probably being low volume like our evo.

I've bolded the most incorrect part. A GTR can not possibly replace my evo. Ever. See below.

The X was Americanised. The evo platform was doing just fine until a USDM model became available.

Sad but true. Im glad it came to the US though so I could own one, but unfortunately we either get the crappy version from whats overseas or we ruin it.

Its not gonna drive anything like either imo. I believe it will be a better daily driver car with more creature comforts though. The interior will have better materials. The typical Alcantara/suede that benz uses for the AMGs is really nice. But because the focus with Mercedes is foremost luxury, your just not gonna get that raw/sportiness feel of the evo. Ive driven just about every AMG produced from having to work on them, and the only one that excited me to want to own was the clk63 amg Black series (if money wasn't a factor). That one actually drove and felt like Mercedes was trying to build a fun car.

Mercedes is going forward trying to make all the AMGs 4matic, I guess this CLA is gonna be there first go at it. Smart they try it on something with a bit less hp than the other AMG cars because we already have issues with transfercases blowing up on engines with less hp.lol
