From X MR to new gti?

So I've had my 2011 mr for almost 2 years. But my need and want with a car has changed to something still sporty but more dd and better quality especially interior and better oem sound and tech. I'm hoping for a new job coming soon and becoming independent. I'm 24.

So I was seeing what about a gti. Dsg. My friend had an '06 sti and he ended trading it in for a Mini Cooper s. He was happy so I'm thinking I would be too. Just open to what you guys reading this thinks. Support to my thinking or against both welcome.

Nope that's the thing. Got a base nothing fancy. The gti drivers edition doesn't have a name brand premium sound but when I test drove one definitely a lot better then the base crap in evo. Gti has sunroof heated leather seats satellite radio navi still 4 door practicality and bigger trunk and folding rear seats for when I'm on my own

Install a sound system. Pretty easy to do.

And to add to my choice I'm also looking at the new 14 kia optima sx. May have regular automatic but the style and the interior is amazing. Plus it drove pretty nice. Not dull like a camry and such it competes against

The latest GTI's are absolutely fantastic cars in about every way. The DSG is second to none. Plus if you want speed they've got bolted on small turbo cars running mid to upper 11's.

Personally, I would stick with the Evo - hence the reason I am on this board just like everyone else. 99% of the advice you are going to get here is going to steer you away from other platforms.

As a DSM/Evo guy for the past 12 years, I love these cars. But that isn't to say that I would dislike an LS-1 powered Miata, or a new FR-S/BRZ. Hell, I would kill for an S14 240SX.

True car guys can appreciate all different sorts of cars. My forte tends to be Mitsubishi's because I love them and I know what I'm doing. But I would love to have a Subaru or a Miata in the future as well.

Bottom line, if you aren't happy with your Evo you have to decide if you want to spend the cash to trade to another car, in which case you WILL lose some money. Or perhaps you can upgrade some of the features you dislike with the Evo X, again losing some money.

Whatever your choice is, own it. Nobody can tell you what you are going to like or not. I believe you are going to sacrifice some performance going with either of the platforms you suggested, but you might be happier overall.

The choice is yours... good luck.

Sounds like you should have got the touring edition from the start! Front heated seats, sunroof, and you could always add the factory navigation/satellite radio to your evo.

OP -- I'm not saying that trading from an MR to an MR Touring is the way to go, but what are your thoughts on an MR Touring? If you still feel like it's crap, then maybe look elsewhere. If it fills the void, then maybe look into trading for one or upgrading some of the interior.

I did this swap, and it was the biggest automotive mistake I ever made in my life. I'm now back in an Evo X. Fwd + boost is frustrating.

I rented a GTi in Philly, flew home, bought a MR Touring premium. the MR seats are better, the interior is comparable. You'll hate the GTI's "performance"-it's a dog.

my old mustang had a terrible sound system, (coming from a 98 e36 M3) but i installed a great sound system, that outperformed the m3
STAY evo! or get an e46 M3?

just cant see myself in a mini, or a GTI

I drove a new gti before I bought my evo, I liked the sound system but that was about it. It just lacked power, once I turned traction control off it had a little more power but not much. It almost felt boring to drive.

It is incredibly so. I DD a Jetta GLI with a few mods (bought it that way) and it's definitely annoying. It'll toss in like an Evo with how stiff the rear sway is, but the second you bring the power on you're headed outside. Try going anywhere in first and it's equally annoying, you're spinning with **** tires or hopping with decent ones.

That's not to say that these cars CAN'T be fun, but they aren't an Evo replacement by any means, and never will be.
