Question An Opportunity To Own an FQ Evo in The 'States?

I am putting this up for someone who works for Mitsubishi. His department deals directly with Mitsubishi-Japan. This friend of mine had a meeting with a high-ranking technical person who works for HKS-USA. These two people are planning a proposal to Mitsubishi, NA.

For those who are not familiar with the Evo trends in The UK, there is a special limited edition (UK Only) Evo called the "FQ" Series. It started with the Evo VII. These cars came stock directly from Mitsubishi-Japan, in various trim levels (RS, GT, MR, etc.) and only a few hundred of these VII's, VIII's, IX's and the X were chosen to go to the RALLIART UK facility for modifications to become an "FQ". They were all numbered too.

RALLIART modified these select few with a bunch of HKS, etc. parts, along with a tune and some cosmetic things like special 'FQ' badging and a front, lower lip, usually in carbon fiber. Mitsubishi UK warranted the cars fully. The series started as: The FQ 260, and went all the way up to the FQ 400. It countinued all the way to the X.

The "FQ" stands for: "F*cking Quick", and the numbers after the 'FQ' are the horsepower ratings. If you can find a used one in good shape they will be seriously more expensive that your 'average' UK Evo. But imagine having a modded Evo and not worrying about taking it to your 'FQ Qualified' Dealership!

So, my question that I'm supposed to ask here for my good friend is: If the 4B11 FQ 400 were to become available here in The USA, how many would be seriously interested? Before anyone raises their hand, please understand that the price will be substantially higher than your 'standard' showroom new Evo X. Depending what HKS and Mitsubishi would come up with (if it even happens!) will determine the final 'numbers' on the final selling price. These cars will be in limited numbers.

Now this is just in the talking stages currently...My friend will gather up the information from this thread and others that I've posted-up on another web site and see what everyone has to say. If it's positive, he will get things started with the HKS executive and make the proposal to Mitsubishi. We're guessing (I repeat, guessing) the price to be in the $50K 'range'. Yes, that's expensive for a 4B11! Yes they will be limited/rare! Yes you could go to a qualified FQ Dealership for your maintenance, warranty work!

Let me know what you think! I will make sure my 'Mitsubishi Friend' gets all your comments. I appreciate you taking the time! Thanks! -Howard
