EVO MR FQ400 vs. Corvette Z06 vs. Cobra R vs. 911 Turbo

Just how good is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR FQ400? This car is considered the ultimate EVO, coming from the factory with 400+ HP. We all know about the Corvette Z06 and what it can do, no stock EVO VIII could compare to a Corvette Z06 stock for stock, until now. Another great american car is the 2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R, would the EVO MR FQ400 destroy the Cobra R? How about the Porsche 911 Turbo, is the EVO MR FQ400 the better of the AWD beasts? Which is best, the 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR FQ400 or the 2004 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 or the 2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R or the 2004 Porsche 911 Turbo?

2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR FQ400
2.0L Turbocharged 4-Cylinder
405HP@6800RPM
355TQ@5000RPM
6-Speed Manual
AWD

vs.

2004 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
5.7L 8-Cylinder
405HP@6000RPM
400TQ@4800RPM
6-Speed Manual
RWD

vs.

2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R
5.4L 8-Cylinder
385HP@6250RPM
385TQ@4250RPM
6-Speed Manual
RWD

vs.

2004 Porsche 911 Turbo
3.6L Twin Turbocharged 6-Cylinder
415HP@6000RPM
415TQ@2700RPM
6-Speed Manual
AWD

Remember before you talk price, cars are more expensive in the UK due to taxes and etc., so yes the EVO MR FQ400 does cost around $80,000 in the UK, but the Corvette Z06 also costs the equivelent of over $75,000 in the UK.

Actually, doesn't it come from the factory as the FQ320, and then is modified in the UK to FQ400 spec??? True, you can order them from Ralliart UK, and they're sold at UK dealers. But, it like calling a Saleen 281E an "official" production car, because they can be purchased at certain Ford dealers. To me, its not an "official" car in that sense of the term. The car is sweet, for sure though. Bench racing it by specs alone against the other cars on the list, it would be hard pressed to be beat. Around a track, it would be a close one. Not sure how I would score that battle.

Where's the weight #s?

Remember, a 200-hp Lotus Elise beat a Cobra R just because of balance and weight. That's the x-factor not accounted for in magazine racing.

If I remember the article correctly (Top Gear Sept '04????), they compared the two as just all out street machines. And, in the UK, on their roads, you have to give it to the Evo. On a track, where the Zonda can stretch it's legs a bit more, who knows.

Common theme here, "WHO KNOWS". They're all great cars listed. Any one of them would be real fast at a track. Like nine4 said, its all just spec racing. Have all of them lapped by the same driver on the same day, then you'll get a real answer. Until then, it will just be a "fan boy" listing of favorite cars. I'd take any of them, if given the choice.

Actually you know what I mean, so please stay on topic, and sorry the FQ400 is nothing like the Ford and Saleen relationship, it's more like Ford and SVT. Ford does not give Saleen a dime and they do not give you a Ford warranty, this is not the case for the FQ400. Mitsubishi money is involved in this car as is a Mitsubishi warranty.

Whoa, damn, I didn't mean to trip your trigger. I was just making a point. I didn't mean to discount the cars credibility. Either way you look at it, whether it be like SVT or like Saleen, the point I was making was that the car gets shipped as an FQ320. Its then modified into a 400. Nothing wrong with that, its a sweet car. Just to me, its not "official" in that sense of the word.

Oh, and about the warranty, and money..........

Its a Zonda, I'd be happy if I beat it in anything. And nothing else on that list (except maybe, just maybe the Porsche) compares to the Zonda anyway.

What you save on the FQ400 goes all to gas. In a recent UK car show (MPH04) hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Tiff Neddle & Richard Hammond it was mentioned that it did 3 miles per gallon. I can barely get 18mpg!
