Are you KIDDING me? The 400hp C6 is embarrassing cars that cost 2x as much. That's not even '08 model with 436hp, lighter wheels, better trans, and more precise steering feel!

The Z06.....well what can you say? They may need to bring out the Enzo or Carrera GT to hang with that. The 'Vettes also come with crappy runflat tires which makes their performance even more amazing. Can you imagine what the 650+hp Blue Devil is going to do????

The Mustang GT500 is also within spitting distance (0.1) of the $130,000 911 Turbo!!!

A $40k Mustang running as fast as a $130k 911?

If the Nissan GTR is being benchmarked against the 911 Turbo - it doesn't stand a chance against the Z06....or base Corvette.

I just read this article and I am as shocked as you. I just goes to show how well balanced the LSX motors are, such a broad power range you just can't be in a wrong gear. It is also a VERY predictable car, and very simple design it just works.

I am utterly shocked at how bad the 911 Turbo performed, it just has the snap oversteer deamon and is just too slow and heavy to even compare. The R8 is a waste cuz next year it'll have the V10 just like tha Gallardo and probably STILL be slower then the Z06. GT3 is very nice, just wish it had more power, which is what the GT2 is all about.

The Z51 is a true master piece, and just so plain compared to teh rest and is just the perfect band for you buck, it cannot be beaten.

The Mustang is just, unreal to do that, just not really believeable although I am sure it happend, just unreal.

Yeh the Z06 would have had an even better time if it came stock with with R compond tires like the GT3. I can't wait to change my shi** Run flats.but having fun wearing them out

I'm not surprised about the 977TT though. I have had a couple of run in's with them and the Z 06 just pulls away from them. I perfer the GT3 over the TT and I've driven them both.....but I'll stick with the Z06. I like it better in many ways and I saved some $$.

I'm also suprised and dissapointed that the Evo wasn't a little higher up the list..but that track has a lot of long straights that does not fall in favor for the Evo like it would the M5 for example.

C6 Z51 is a great bang for the buck car and should be even better with the 08 model picking up a few HP more, although it will gain a few Lbs so I don't think it will get the whole benifit of the 30 more ponies.

New GT-R should be a very mod friendly car with a very strong stock block that is rumored to hold up to 800hp...it will be intresting when it arrives in the USA to see if it meets up to all the hype..... I hope so I've had my deposit down on one for six months now.

Good times for people that love performance cars. Lots to choose from imports and domestics...lets hope it keeps up and the emissions laws don't end it like they did in the 70's.

A stock Evo is REALLY corked up, nothing special in the least, they need an FQ series for sure, it would dominate.

Not really surprised that the Z06 put down the fastest time. It is such a crazy car. The new changes to the suspension really helped it too. The Porsche turbo doesn't really surprise me either...I too have had the chance to run with a couple, and the z06 pulls like crazy. I only wish the evo was a little higher up on the list .

hmm... i think they have something wrong with the 335i's time... i don't understand how its only 5 tenths of a second slower an m6.. the power to weight ratio of the 335i is 11.9 and the power to weight ratio of the m6 is 7.5... and isn't the m6 supposed to handle better and have sticker tires? even the z4 m should beat it since it has a power to weight ratio of about 9.8.. I would also assume that it handles better than the 335i too.. oh well..

Thanks for posting that, yeah the cars were running quicker that day, than the last Lightning Lap. I believe the C6 Z06 was a good 3 seconds ahead of its previous pace. Also I do believe VIR is an ok track, but maybe it is not laggy turbo friendly.

Also even a stock EVO is special, just not on VIR, a stock EVO can hang with a Cayman S on most road courses, but for some reason VIR is just not a great EVO track. I would love for the Ligthning Track to switch to try out another track.

VIR's full course has just about everything - long straights, tight turns, sweepers, you name it. It tests everything a car has - power through all gears, aerodynamics (where the Evo sucks beyond belief), grip, balance, braking.

The only real surprise to me is the GT500.

I'm sure if they actually used some good drivers, this list would change dramatically.
