Question G35 6speed coupe...

Does anyone know what this thing can really do the quarter mile in? I've heard 14.1 for the six speed. Can anyone verify this?

It's capable of 14.1-14.3 @ 100-101 mph stock.

1/4 mile times all depend on the driver.

Intake and exhaust work will easily put it in the 13's.

2003 g35coupe 6spd...

car and driver has it at 14.2@100mph.

0-130 is 26.8 seconds.

great numbers....... though more than a half second slower and a mph less than the evo through the 1/4... but 0-130 is 28.5 for the evo.

still deciding huh? can't go wrong with either car bro. good luck!

Yea, I've saved and saved and drove my piece of **** for longer and longer.... Kinda waitin on spring. I finally test drove the g. I have it narrowed down to this comparison.

the evo is the more fun of the two cars and the problem is it'll probably end up in the shop a lot and I don't feel like dealing with a dealership that is going to treat me like **** after I spend 30k.

the g is definitely the more reliable (IMHO) of the two, but I'm 21 and i'm not sure if i wanna go the sensible route.

I originall had a maxed out G35c on order, and last minute I took the EVO instead, now I'm kicking myself in the *** for doing it. I would imagine that if I hadn't had the problems i've had with MY evo, then I'd be happy with my decision. But since I'm at 11K right now and have sustained a blown clutch and transfer case, I'm done with the car. The only good thing is, I can negotiate the price of the G coupe now where before I had to order and pay top dollar.

FEH! just have two of your friends (each representing one of the two cars... preferably the friends you choose will be staunch lovers of the respective cars) do a paper rock scissors match (best out of 9) and see who wins. it's fate. it's the only civilized way out i can see

and, if you dislike the outcome greatly, then you'll know that you obviously like one car more than the other.

as for it being in the shop? i dunno man... i've got 5k on my car and not one single problem... some gripes about gas mileage, and the ****ty paint... but it honestly feels very high in quality mechanically. engine's been around forever, so i don't worry about it at all...

but the G is a great car by anyone's standard. it's just that everyone has it. and i honestly am not feeling it's looks as much anymore... too conservative and plain to me. nice rims and ***... comfy front seats... good handling, good performance... naturally aspirated so it'll last longer... probably a higher resale value... insurance will probably be lower... and, if you care, the chick factor's probably higher... though, i'd say the 'quality' of chick that is attracted to the evo FAR exceeds that of a chick attracted to a G... though by quality i don't necessarily mean looks. i mean cool factor.

man i thought you were older than 21 hahaha... but i'm only 22.

It isn't the engine i have a problem with. It is other components like the clutch. I've been on the boards for i'd say well over a year now and i've been on subaru, g35, and other boards as well. From hearing the complaints (and the amount of them) I can get a bearing on what the problems with the cars are. It isn't even the clutch so much. It is the fact that the dealerships will fight tooth and nail to deny you a warrenty that you should get after paying 30 thousand dollars (granted you don't mod the **** out of the car). Now 30k doesn't come by so easy for me. I've saved for about 3 years now to try and get a car I really want. If I could find a dealership in central jersey or even some where else in jersey where if my clutch goes, they'll put a new one in and not deny me a warrenty b/c I want one that won't give out in 5 - 10k miles the EVO would be my choice Hands down. Sorry just had to rant...

Infinity, by the way, has impecable customer service. Not only do they warranty claims, but they supply you with a loaner car aswell. And their clutches and transfer cases don't blow during the first 10K you put on them either.

Well, honestly it all depends on how your gonna drive the car. Yeah if you beat the hell out of it and launch it hard its gonna break. Ducati...I dont know what kind of problems you have had (Havent researched) but were you abusing the car? Its not to say I wont have problems, I have just over 6K miles and have only had it for 2 1/2 months. I do beat on it a bit, but not all the time and I do maintain my cars well.

I do like the G35, I have looked at them and it is a good choice as well, but I dont regret my purchase for 1 second (that would be different if I had problems) I have an S2000 as well but I can honestly say, I would rather drive the EVO, but being able to drop the top is nice too And thats saying alot since the S2000 looks pretty nice...

Raced a G35 coupe. Rolling start without launching, left it 2-3 car length back in 1/8 mile. But a stock Evo will not do so well on a roll start againt a G35 coupe. In fact G35 might walk the Evo on a roll start.
I like those cars but my insurance would be higher in a G35 than an Evo. In fact the insurance was cheaper than an Acura Integra GSR, which I owned before trading it in. That was the main part that lead me to the Evo and the fact that it's an Evo.

if abusing the car is driving it to and from work, and to NYC a half dozen times not doing any clutch drops and not racing, then yes, I'm guilty of abusing my car. I've got go fast parts on the car, but I haven't been able to use them at the track because this piece of **** car keeps on breaking.

yeah bro, i feel you on that. however, it's been stated before, but you'll notice the complaints because people they're the ones that make the most noise. people that've had good experiences simply don't make the radar. but hell, i don't know the ultimate numbers on warranty claims and their denials... so who knows. g is a great car, and it's comfy. it seems as though you're leaning more towards the G anyway.

anyway,

a g35 coupe will not walk an evo from a roll. g35 has the upper hand at top end, but from a roll, depending on where the roll starts...

30-70 a 350z with track package time is 5.3 seconds
30-70 for the evo is 5.0 flat.

0-100 is 13.5 for the evo, 14.2 for the G coupe.

this is taken from SCC's website.

Ducati...Im not bashing you bro. I was merely asking how you drove it. If I drove it easy and I was having probs with it, I would feel the same way. You may have got, well you did get one of the worst ones. I know their not all like that, just unfortunate you got a bad one.
