Help on New Car: integra GSR vs Miata

Hi All,

Would like opinions on these two cars:

98 Integra GSR Sedan: good DD, can put my dog in it, found one with 127k, unmolested/stock in green for $5k. Owned two and loved them both.

Vs

Mazda Miata NA or NB 94-2005: track car, fun DD, never driven or owned one though. I can tell the GF to drive dog in her Subie.

Evo has become weekend car only. No dog allowed and don't want to track yet since I am still paying on it and need work on the driver mod.

Thoughts?

GSR will work as a track car too with some decent pads and tires.. shop for both and buy whatever you find a better example of...

if you plan on keeping suspension stock on both, I think the GSR will actually be better on the track. stock miata's roll like sail boats in turns

I like the way you are thinking. Really tempted to pick up this stock GSR I found and agree it would work ok on the track too; some have rated Integras as some of the best handling FWD cars out there.

GSR is going to be 1,000,000 times more useful. the engine is also the best of all of them (for daily driving). and four doors? not only is that chassis stiffer than the coupe (rivals the type-r), but as you said: you can put your dog in it

a GSR sedan is the ultimate DD for me. i'd swoop on one, if i could.

yes, they are. the '92-95 Civic and 93-01 Integras were VERY capable cars. i had a GSR, a hatchback, and a Type-R. they embarrassed many a more-expensive car LOL. you can't go wrong for a cheap, fun, reliable car.

I'm gonna have to change my vote to the Miata... You already had 2 integras... Try something new... Try the Miata

Miata. I've owned two so I'm probably biased. I haven't met someone who drove one and was disappointed in how it felt. This includes guys who called it a girl's car. Most are now racing Spec Miatas.

If you are looking for another "race" car, then I misunderstood and would change my answer to "Miata".

Thanks Everyone, appreciate the input. I realize these are two very different cars. I only have space for one of them. The practical side of me wants to pick up the Integra but I really want to be better on the track and try something new so thought Miata would be great for that.

Also, if someone says forget both and get "___" I am open to hearing that option too.

The Integra is the best, all-around, "Swiss army knife" choice. I couldn't think of a better one taking performance, mpg, reliability, cost/maintenance, and comfort into consideration.
Parts are cheap and can be found EVERYWHERE.-LOL

Not sure if you're into bimmers, but I would suggest an E46 5MT. They're comfortable, somewhat luxurious, and RWD. They are a little on the heavy side, but still a fun car to drive around. You would also be able to take your dog with you since it has 4 seats That was my second car and wish I could afford to get another one as a DD
