really considering a 2016 STI
i had a subaru for about 6mos. everyone would ask "what stage?". i honestly didn't know what to tell them. i mod as needed to get the car to perform how i wanted. i didn't really follow a path or "stage". even after you find out what "stage", you still wonder what mods they have done. it was more frustrating and complicated than it needed to be LOL.
and yeah.. a tune is a tune. but i hear EVERYONE calling it a "protune" now. Hondas, Evos, etc.
it just sounds kinda silly to me. unless i can understand what makes it "pro". meh. just a pet peeve. i try to remember i'm old and not up with the new terminology haha.
as for OP, the RS is looking to be a different animal than the RS. i don't think an Sti owner would want the RS and vice versa. like the Evo VIII/IX vs the X. do you want raw performance or a comfy ride?

Wait until the 2017 comes out and try it.
It should be a huge difference (i hope, and excited to see). I meant to compare preference with the VIII/IX and X, not performance. VIII/IX owners are hardcore that it's the best platform and X owners feel the same. Very few people like each equally. I can't see an Sti or RS owner being remotely happy with owning the other car.

I have to agree I bought a brand new 2013 X SSSL one as well and god I hated that thing more than anything. For almost a 40k car that thing made noises like no other, even with 500 miles on it
I had it tuned on e85 made decent power but it just wasn't it, I went back to an 8. I have a 6 month old and I just want something brand new. As much as I love the EVO it's just time to move on to something else.

i suppose if i daily drove my IX i'd care more about noises and such. my rear dif whines, the exhaust bumps the fuel tank, once in a while. the clutch chatters. squeaks and creaks everywhere. i wouldn't change a thing. it's an f'ing Evo LOL
if i want quiet, i'll get a BMW
looking better is definitely preference. the X is okay. but not aggressive enough for me, other than the size of wheel you can fit. that, i like.

I would love to go back to daily driving my Evo, we'll see if the diff is quite when it comes back from shep, it needed a new ring and pinion, and pinion bearings. If it is, I'll likely sell the civic. and get something far less expensive simply to have when the evo is broken. Or finish my offroad truck. Nothing like a fully caged and gutted race car with a plate on it to take on the work commute.

My point with the X is that while it looks modern, it's still basically the same turd bucket that the 8/9 is, and it doesn't handle quite as well. So, it's not worth switching platforms. Especially with the small fortune I already have in my 8..

That being said, I've driven both, stock for stock, the X trans is a little better. But once they are both built by a shop that does all the synchro and oiling tricks, they are the same..
5 or 6spd? I find the 5spd feels cheap compared to the 6. As for luxury? Not in my Evo, please. LOL
On this point, I agree with you completely.
