It's a GT.
I've spent the last 14+ years in S2000s and Miatas (one of which was < 2000 lbs), I like lightweight cars. But I also acknowledge the difference between a Mustang and an S2000 is pretty significant. I don't get this "my evo only weighs 3300 lbs, the Mustang is a pig!" mentality.
- The Evo X is 200 lbs lighter and it's a compact car. It's much smaller. It's also, relatively speaking, a cheap POS (that happens to be fun as hell to drive). The 8/9 were smaller yet, also basically piles of **** with respect to interior and build quality.
- The BMW 4 series is 100 lbs lighter, and a compact car. If a smaller BMW weighs basically the same, not sure what you expect Ford to do.
- The 911 weighs quite a bit less (100-500 depending on version) but it's more than a foot shorter. Ditto the Cayman.
- Probably the best comparison is a midsize coupe. The Accord is basically the same size as the Mustang, and it's a few hundred pounds lighter (this shocked me when I looked it up, actually). So yeah, there's room for improvement here, but the Mustang is never going to be a svelte 3200 lb car, not at its price point and with its feature set, and definitely not with big radiators/transmission coolers, giant brakes, and frankly, excessively large wheels.
The GT350 (and R) are both really good values, just like the Z06 has been. But that's because they're based on cheap cars. The base Mustang is like $23k. How light can you make a $23k midsize car that people will want to DD in between their occasional track day?

I think this is wrong with Ford, instead of solving the issue, they try to patch it up, as you see with a very lame way. Now in the second time with performance oriented car in this year.
Not along time ago we just had a similar discussion about the RS... lol
These are the things you actually will see with your own eye as a customer.
These things raising a question, what else Ford did patch in the car, hoping it will fix the issue tbey having, which are not visible for customers but its there?
i think its a legit question

lol.
I dont hate Ford, like the F-150 / 250
I like the Ford RS
I like the Ford ST
I like the Ford GT
I dont like cheap *** solution or fake parts in performance cars to fix performance related issues.
I dont mind cheap solution in performance cars like no cigarette lighter or no automatic air-condition , or even proper door handle.
But if you make a performance car and you have a relatively a small problem, dont cheapen out to fix it. Save the money on the stripes for an example.
i have a cool fix for not melting bumper, it was not a hard solution neither fake or much more expensive then 4 fake polished exhaust tip or a plastic blocking plate
