Mustangs
Markup isn't a fair comparison. MRs were marked up $10,000 when they first went on sale here.
I suspect we'll have to wait for the Lightning Lap to get official numbers, but the last review I read of the 350R put it up against the Z/28, and both posted damn good times. They're track machines, nothing more. I wouldn't be surprised if the 350R did beat the GT3.

Beat? Or wipe the tarmac? To me, when you say that, you're talking about absolutely smashing it. The GT3 has a huge weight (500lbs) and technology advantage. And its only down about 50hp. GT3 0-60mph is 3.3 seconds, GT350 estimated 0-60mph is 3.5. Also, the GT3 has the PDK box. I could see it being a close race, or maybe even a good race. But I think the GT3 would get it.
You picked one car. My statement at no point mentioned the GT3, a specific car you came up with. I stand behind my statement that the GT350R would decimate a lot of cars that costs a lot more.
Describing the mustang with a "Wipe the track" is way too much LOL
Only American car gets my respect really is the Vette, not even the new RS (since its really not much to do with American car making )
there are many cars are better then the Mustang , and not just one Porsche

So any how, I have been and drove some mustang ( I even had one 5.0 cabriole back then, same as Vanilla Ice , I am not making this up)
Mustangs sounds awesome, and that's about it.
Vettes on the other hands are the cars which can wipe the track with a good or better driver.
Which ones though? There are a lot of cars that cost more, but aren't in the same segment. Example: an Audi RS7, or a Mercedes S65 AMG or C63 AMG Black. I said a GT3 because it is a direct comparison as far as what the car is built for.

and the look the finesse etc are just a different level.

or the next step with the M4 GTS:

I get the impression some of you are dismissing this as just another Mustang. It's not. The GT350R has a unique engine that's unlike the rest of the Mustang lineup. It's a true display of what Ford can do when the engineers are given free reign. It has a flat-crank V8 that revs to 8000 RPM and develops over 500 HP. It has carbon fiber wheels and magnetic dampers. Dismissing it as just another Mustang would be like dismissing the Evo as "just another hopped up Lancer".
As for lap times, does the Ring count?

0.8 seconds off the Zonda F is pretty good, for just a Mustang. It's also reported a second faster than a GT3 RS.
If 2014's Lightning Lap times are any indication, the GT350R would be up there, assuming it beat the Z/28 again.

neh , the evo is a bargain in a performance world, the mustang GT350 or the GT350R is not.
And we didn't dismissed it, we just don't think its a car its swipes the track. Yes its very fast yes its sounds good. But from there is a very steep downhill for the car. And cars out there for a same or similar price, just better options, and some even have a status .
that is all.

I'm not disagreeing that it's fast. I'm definitely not dismissing it as "just another mustang". But you when you say "wipes the tarmac" I equate that to A LOT more than a 1 second advantage around the nurburgring over the GT3. I think it will be a competitor in its class, which, for the MSRP, is awesome. But it's not a clear cut case of, this car is 10% better at everything over the competition. If I could afford it, I would buy a "base" GT350 at MSRP. Unfortunately I can't really afford it, and they will likely be hard to find without a markup since they're only gong to be made through 2017.
I'm not arguing status at all. I prefer to have a car that doesn't have status...lol

...Are you kidding me? The GT350R is a bargain at about $65,000-70,000 MSRP. I have no idea what you mean by "there is a very steep downhill for the car". It's fast, very fast, for not a lot of money. It competes well above its pay grade. If you want a similar Porsche, you're over $100,000, easily. "Status" is a bull**** notion that people driving slow cars use to speak down to the fast. Really, you like the Evo, a ****ing Mitsubishi. The irony of a Mitsubishi fan speaking about "status" is remarkable. Don't get me wrong, I like Evos, but I'm well aware of the stigma surrounding the brand.
I never met a person before you who actually an active member on a forum , doesn't even have a car, and never talk positive about it. But what ever makes you happy

So make it for you more clearer, for a same price or close the M4 for an example has a status over the mustang and quality etc strictly talking about status only , I hope you will get it this way. Even if it would be slightly slower by the magazine numbers.
Side note , if you think the Evo doesn't have a status in the racing or tuner field where it belongs, that alone explain why are you in this forum.
And I am not a Mitsubishi fan, I am an Evolution fan and driver. There is a difference. I am sure its a same between the Ford galaxy and the Mustang too between Ford owners.. lol

What does status even mean? It's a made up, subjective notion. In Germany, yeah, BMW is king. Go ask some circuit racers in North Carolina, and they'll pick a domestic brand. My girlfriend lived in Germany and doesn't find BMWs very impressive. She's shocked at the status they have here.
Did I say the Evo doesn't have status? No, but it's not the only car Mitsubishi makes. Your argument shows its own hypocrisy. You claim the Evo has status in the racing or tuner field. Well, hate to tell you, but so does the Mustang. You're proving my argument that status is a completely subjective notion.
well I usually doesn't say this to anyone but you don't make a lots of sense to me, if you put your two comments together LOl
I don't care what NC people would say to me or people from enywhere. I still doesn't have any feelings for mustangs(for my own reasons) specially those which cost a same as the new M4. Defenietly wouldn't swipe the track around it, which was a point here, There are more cars then an M4 like that, but that was my example so be it .
Yes mustang has a status in the tuning field as said it before just as the civic. Basically a same just in different crowed .
There are always exceptions though, but mainly there is a reason why they on the same level.

oh I forgot , I actually like more the new type R then a mustang. Yes you can call me a ricer , I wear it as a badge of honor then
( if we talking about that tuner crowed)
