I dunno about unreliabel, Ive seen Neons take poundings at auto cross events. The only thing Ive seen break on one is the clutch. At any rate, Neosn are not great cars, but remember, you get what you pay for. Its serves its purpose, and for the money it costs, its well worth it...

Is the neon's turbo engine made by mitsu?? That should answer your reliability questions. Isnt it also just a beefed up PT Cruiser Turbo engine?
PS - Looks like that guy with the srt-4 in the video is a little daring since the car just came out. You think he broke the engine in yet? Maybe he went for a 500 mile drive when he got it.

If it took another 4 months I'd wait for the Evo over the Neon. I just won't be caught driving a Neon no matter how fast it is. There are plenty of dealerships selling the car for much less than $45,000. I guarentee in less than a month they will see the error of their ways and bring the price down. Lots of dealers tried to mark up my Prowler by $10,000. I found a local one that charged MSRP because they couldn't get rid of the one they had. If the markup is $5K or less I say get it. If you really want the car you'll pay it. If you simply can't afford the extra amount let it be known and they might work with you on it. Definitely check every dealership within 50 miles. It's worth a drive for a couple grand saved. But if you can't find it cheaper wait for the STi (which will be marked up I bet) or for Evo to come down to MSRP. Don't get the Neon or we will all laugh at you.

I test drove the SRT-4, the car is freakin fast, you could easily take an S4 off the line. The only problem is, the car still feels like a damn NEON overall. Unless you rev the damn thing hard, you can only get like 10psi on the street.
Oh, and the shifter is terrible and it's LOUD.

So if they made a $15k dollar AWD neon that out performed a Mclaren F1 in the dry, and the STI/EVO in the wet you'd still rather have the EVO?
I'm sorry, but fast is fast, and if I were in the market for a FWD sport compact the SRT-4 would be it. My only beef is it's FWD. Can't stand driving FWD.
