I've always been sceptical of electric car economics, but I hope they survive. They have forced others to be better with their ability to think big.

Teslas has fascinated me as well. It kind of reminds me of the beginning of transfer from " the horse and buggy days" to internal combustion vehicles. Electric motor efficiency is unrivaled. As battery/power source tech develops it will become more the standard mode of automotive travel. Hybrid kinda makes more sense to me currently.
I also like seeing the "grass roots" hot rodder types now starting to embrace it.

First one I noticed awhile back was:

The White Zombie is a 1972 Datsun. The nearly-40-year-old car has been revamped with a dual-armature 9-inch series-wound electric motor that Wayland had custom built for the car. It might sound silly to have something like that built for a car so old, and one that never really had much cred in the racing community, even back in the ‘70s, but this little two-door Datsun 1200 can do zero to 60 in just 1.8 seconds, making it the world’s fastest electric car. Its top speed is recorded at 129 mph.

This guy has pushed the envelope even more:

2015 Ford Mustang Zombie 222 Bloodshed Motors
Top speed 280 kph / 174 mph
0-100 kph 0-60 mph 2.4 seconds
Power & torque 811 bhp / 596 kW 2438 Nm @ 0 rpm
bhp / weight 431 bhp per tonne
Weight 1880 kg / 4145 lbs

I test drove the P100D this past weekend, it made the acceleration of the 600hp GT-R I've been driving all weekend seem tame... I did a launch mode launch on it about 15 mins after driving the Tesla. it smacks your head on the headrest unless you are concentrating and have it time well, it's honestly easier to just put your head against the headrest before smashing the go pedal. And no joke, it gets a little harder to breath. I'm not saying you'll go into asthma attack mode (well maybe if you actually have asthma), but you definitely feel the difference in the first couple seconds of acceleration.

And just for fun, my 2 rides for this past weekend:

I don't understand the hate... so what if he took advantage of government funding? its not like he stole the money... that internet says he received 5 billion for 3 of his companies combined, GM got 11.2 billion in their 2008 bailout and nobody is hating on the current Corvette and Camaro for it. thats more than double the money and a bailout, where as what Musk took advantage of was available for anyone to go after. If Musk didn't get it to develop the electric car and infrastructure and his space stuff, someone else would have.

I'm not a Musk nut hugger or anything, but if you wanna hate him, have a legit reason for hating him. Taking advantage of existing government funding isn't a legit reason. He did a better job with electric cars in just a few years than the OEMs have been doing for decades
