dont know how or why but the balancing unit in my daughters car broke. is it a good idea to remove the assembly all together or should i replace it back to factory specs?

The the chain the drives the balancing unit sprocket and remove the balance shaft. You will be perfectly find driving it without a balance shaft unit. I took it off back in 2003-2004 when i had the 03 spec v.

A few things to note:

-If I remember correctly there is a small hole you will need to plug that originally fed oil to the balance shaft.

-The balance shaft acted as a windage tray to prevent oil splashing around during hard turns and also it took up space. So you will need to compensate the extra space created with this removal by adding more oil. They sell windage trays to prevent from oil starvation from the pickup tube.
