2019 Hyundai Veloster N

IDK why, I am fawning over the upcoming Veloster N:

https://www.caranddriver.com/hyundai/veloster-n

I am/was NOT a fan of the original veloster, in looks or performance, but this upcoming one seems pretty sweet. Slots between GTI & Civic Type R, 275hp, electronically controlled mechanical LSD, looks great IMO, love the pale blue, comfortable, well appointed, etc. I think Hyundai's 2.0T is fairly tried and true, I'm not sure exactly the motor this one has but I imagine it's similar to the sonata & optima. Would be a great DD/touring car, maybe some weekend autox & track days. more potent than gti, but not as rowdy or "loud" as the top tier hot hatches.

Only thing is it will depreciate like a rock and I should wait on the used market to pick one up... right? No word yet on pricing or weight for that matter

I agree i do like how it looks, for some reason though the front reminds me of the focus, maybe i am seeing things.

It does look like a Focus. if I was going to pick one of the two, I would choose the Focus even though it costs more.

focus re the RS? i think it's a little more car than i am looking for for dd/gt/autox/hpde

mainly though, there is something very, very weird ergonomically about the RS seating position - I could NOT get comfortable in it.. one other guy said the same, something really weird, maybe we have weird backs or something lol

most jap cars & the veloster n i sat in at the auto show felt gerat

Lose the red trim, Ford blue paint and the Toyota bug scoop and I like it.

This car is for sale for a little while in Europe, here is link to UK's version in English for ease of comprehension:

https://www.hyundai.co.uk/new-cars/i...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

Its been reviewed by many publications, and I have friends who are car journalists, and tested it before it was released to public, and after.

In summary, great first attempt, but not quiet Renault Megane, or Golf GTi (or Clubsport) nor Golf R. Forcus RS is in this group, but even 2018/19 chassis is not quiet on par with GTi Clubsport or Megane. There is also Seat which has Cupra R that rates very high:

There is however WRC connection to the Hyundai N, in spirit, kind of cool.
Certainly a good platform to start with, and perhaps optimize as owner for great reliable fun sport hatch.

On paper this should kill the Honda Civic SI in sales. Honda Fanboys will probably not care though.

Good point! Also the FoST and FiST are better competitors in the price range.

Reviews coming in - one guy took a full video of Albert Biermann's presentation on the press release first drive on the Ring -

you may not like the car or Hyundai but you gotta appreciate this ****ing attention to detail. i love it, everything from cooling, how suspension responds, etc.
