The C8 isnt going to be a $60k vehicle for a while... At a minimum for a no option car, its going to be $80k. Just like the CTR, you can be sure to bet its going to be marked up for quite a while.

The CTR is like a limited run trim of a vehicle though. I don't think Chevy ever had a supply problem with previous corvettes.

I figure the C8 to be in the $70-80k range, then selling in the mid $50k used. For the first year, at least.

I'm sure it would be fine but still could be years before we know if there is a problem with that transmission.

With the GTR the same old car for years now we know how it we be as a used car purchase.
I used to work for a supplier that did a fair amount of test and validation on that trans for Tremec. They had a fair amount of problems with it 2 years ago, hopefully they got them sorted out. This is pretty much the first DCT transaxle that they've ever made so I wouldn't be surprised if it's still got issues.

No I don't really buy any cars for their interior but I'm not saying it's not a high end interior, I'm talking about **** falling apart, hideous panel gaps, materials degrading very rapidly etc.

I remember when my boss bought himself a new Corvette. We went to the parking lot to view it. It was a thing of beauty - loved that red paint. He had the car for a few months and sold it - said it was already falling apart on the inside.

One of my co-workers had owned two Corvettes. He said to me one day, "A Corvette would be the perfect car for you." When I asked why he replied, "Because you can fix cars."

Maybe the new one will be better. I hope so.

Almost could insert EvO into that statement. Most tuner cars probably could fit as well

Build me an EvORS type Corvette & i would be very interested (minus all the electronic BS & crank windows would be OK w/me)

I really like it. After watching the recent jay leno video, it gave me a better idea of what to expect. It's got the exotic looks with a styled interior and I would put it on my list of potential future buys.

I love the way it looks minus the rear bumper. WTF was Chevy thinking not keeping the center mounted quad exhaust tips? I'm guessing it has something to do with the deep trunk but still, the squared tips are AWFUL. I'm also getting pretty fcking tired of sports cars dropping manuals. It's almost an instant no-want from me.

At least C7Z prices will tank even more. Will hopefully have mine by the end of the year.

I'm sure the exhaust has to do with the transaxle. The trunk is probably just because now they have space to play with. As for the dual clutch trans, the car has to not only compete with cars it will be compared to, but it also make it more universal. Now the old guys can keep buying them but also the "racer" guys can use the on the track. No more having to make an AT and MT version to keep both happy. Also, It's just how modern cars are going.
If I bought this car, I'd prefer this trans because I can cruise around town with no effort and go to the track to turn quicker lap times. It means you have to keep a second car to get a different type of enjoyment, but that's okay with me too, since I have the Evo still. Would I sell it to buy a Corvette? Probably not. I'd rather enjoy tracking the Evo than having better lap times in the Corvette. It's because I'm old now and like to enjoy things in different ways

I know the DCTs will always be faster than true manuals and I get it, but the feel of being completely engaged with the car will always mean more to me than a few tenths on a racetrack. One of many reasons I'll NEVER sell my Evo. It's also one of the reasons why I'm getting a C7Z instead of a GT-R. TBH I'm VERY surprised that with a standard DCT being introduced the base price was able to stay under $60k. This is probably the most Corvette thing about the new Corvette. I know I'll have to cave on DCTs soon since it's the way of the world but I'm gonna fight it as long as possible. I'm getting to that Corvette buying age as it is (already had my first retirement lol) but my left foot still functions relatively ok.

For those of us that prefer the involvement of a manual, there are lots of older cars we can own to scratch that itch. The new Corvette definitely is not for people like that.

This was my exact thought. C7 is a bargain of a performance car and really provides the performance I'm looking for stock. I just recently started looking into getting a C7 Z51 2LT. Car and Driver said their 2014 long term C7 was a nightmare tho.

And that fact sucks. I prefer the waste of money that is buying new. At least I'll be able to still get a new C7Z this year with a proper stick.

On top of that, the mention of buying older cars gets immediately shot down by the wife because "ew, old, problems". I've been trying to convince her for YEARS to let me get an R32 GT-R, FD RX-7, MKIV Supra, [insert 90's Japanese supercar here] with zero luck. She knows she won't be able to stop me once the Evo VI is legal to own. Hell, being in grey market Florida now I can get one sooner than she hopes lol.
