I've owned, worked on, and been apart of the Evo community since 2003 and rarely ever saw Evos on the street. Billions of subarus but Evos have ALWAYS been rare. Part of the charm of them.

Back in 2003, my group of friends had three among us. I thought it was the coolest thing. Now, I have about 7 Subarus in my neighborhood and only my Evo

Back in my day!
Get off my lawn!
Okay boomer!

Dude, communities change over time as first time buyers move on to other cars and they begin to change hands. It's a lifecycle thing with all cars at different price points.

A lot of the knowledgeable people that you want in a community have a moved on. There's much fewer of us in that category these days, and a bunch of squids.

The nice thing about it being the present is these cars can pretty much be kept alive indefinitely.

Years ago when certain parts became NLA for a car and there were no aftermarket options that platform's days were numbered. Nowadays anything can be remade (and improved).

Granted that means billet stuff usually, but I can't wait for the day where small production castings and injection molds are more affordable. The sky will really be the limit then.

The one good thing about those people that bastardize their car, is it makes our relatively "stock" ones more valuable if we ever decide to sell it.

True. As with most cars. I.E. I know I'd never buy an Evo with air suspension nor a built engine unless it were for a deep discount.

I just returned to the evo community after a 10 year break and the evo community is a lot different... not in a good way.

It's different than when I first got involved. On one side you have ricers who "don't give a f**K" about respecting anyone or anything. On the opposite, you have the "I'm too cool for you because I know everything" elitists that make it hard for new owners to be involved. In between, are 99% of the core group on this site; still contributing and still trying to help others. But, the numbers are dwindling.
luckily, this site is a plethora of info and the average owner should be able to find what they need via searching.

Been a DSMer for 10+ years and learned a lot. Dabbled in other platforms for a little bit but finally picked up an Evo 8 and I'm hoping to be a part of this community for several years. Almost feels natural going from DSMs to Evos lol
