Mivec - I only have one kid and single, so a 2 seater works out fine! I still have my cobalt so if I need 4 seats, I have them. Poor thing hasnt moved in almost 3 weeks.

Did you not hear about another new smog law? New cars (2019 and up) "can" go 8 years without a smog. Its not too clear when you have to do it but you pay a $20 fee and get another 3 free years (on top of the normal 5)!

 

8 years!!! Hah I’ve never kept a car that long. Actually my Evo 8 was right about there but it felt like a lifetime.

 

The only car I have owned for 8 years is my Bug. All my other cars get sold after 2-3 years of use. I guess I just get bored or something better comes out. Honestly though, if the Supra doesnt give me any big problems, I plan on keeping it for a while. Its that good.

 

Im at 12years with the Evo, longest Ive kept anything for sure. I cant imagine selling it.

But I still love trying other things. At least thats the nice thing with AX, I can car hop all I want though I usually just want to drive my car.

 

Dallas - you have a lot invested in your Evo. Between the time and money, I wouldnt be able to sell it either. I can justify selling mine cause it was just a basic bolt on car. Something that could easily be replicated. Your car, not so much. Its one of a kind.

2016 BMW X3 for 3 years that because I out grew it and need 3 rows.
currently evo9 for 3 years now and that will pass on to my daughter in 15years when she can drive lol
I guess I like to holding on to the car longer

It's been going on for a while now. Three of my friends are just now smogging their 2013 vehicles.
Pretty sweet.

Personally, I don't think I could track a new car. Making payments....insurance... warranty issues....HPDE insurance on a $50K car...
Wish I could, but I don't think I could bring myself to do it.

 

Likewise, 8 years is such a long time! It requires a lot of patience I think.

 

Funny , after having GTR's , AMG's 63, M's and a few other car's , I still miss my evo and plan on buying another one and building another Sharkbite Evo with 800hp street driven

 

Ok so I get what you guys keep saying about im going to miss the Evo. I will, there is no question about that. Love the car. What I won't miss - I dumped a ton of money in the Evo, over 10k, probably over 15k. Not going to add it up. My Supra stock is on par with it. After some basic suspension bolt ons, its going to be better than the Evo. Sure it won't come out of a corner like a rocket ship but it will sure come in a lot harder and maintain a higher g load during the turn. The Evo is old rally car technology. It works with some changes but the Supra just handkes awesome out of the box. Honestly, I can't wait to see what it does with proper wheels and tires. That will be soon ish. Kinda long wait time for wheels.

On top of handling, we have to talk about power delivery. Honestly, that's the huge downside of an Evo. Its hard to get power below 4k. If you can get full boost by 3.5k, you either have a stock turbo or a small turbo on a 2.4L. Either way, we are talking about 400/400ish whp on a conservative e85 build. So a powerband from 3500-6500.

The Supra - it makes 380whp stock. And pretty much 380wtq at 1600 rpm. Ya its crazy. Feels like a na car honestly. A tune (aka in 2021 supra terms / jb4 piggy back system) will get you to 450/450 @ the wheels on pump gas.

What I am getting at is if I throw tires and a tune at this thing, it will blow my modified Evo away for a lot less "mod" money. Yes its more up front, but you are also getting a pretty much 0 mile vehicle. 0 miles and Evo don't go together and to some (me) mean a lot. I had 5 miles on it when I picket it up. Knowing its entire history means a lot to me. My evo has had 3 different owners and it shows in some ways. I am happier everyday with my choice.

 

Thats what its all about right there! Once the happiness fades, its just another cool car.

If operating costs/consumables for the Supra are comparable to the Evo, I see a good argument to switch. HPDE insurance is allegedly more than twice what I pay for my Evo, though.
then I'd have to start worrying about scratching it. I think I keep the Evo out of laziness and ease. I don't even wash it, much less worry about rock chips.
I'll say with 450whp in my Evo, I don't notice any lag (I'm rarely at 1600rpm) but torque is seriously addicting, so.I.see your point there too.
Bottom line is you are happy. Win!

 

lol yea ive wanted a vette since middle school yet 13 years of evo ownership i cant seem to sell it to buy my childhood dream car. I think that highly of my evo, and its only the less desirable 8.
