Tesla Plaid What are your Thoughts?
I mean sorta... there's no ICE powered car that makes anywhere near 1000hp that comes with such mediocre brakes (in general, not talking about the thing MPP discovered)
Yea even the Dodge demon, which is lighter, less powerful and explicitly only for drag racing, comes with better brakes. I don't know what Tesla was thinking. Also it severely restricts power unless the wheel is almost straight. That's why MPP had to defeat a lot of the electronic aids. As long as EVs leave such holes to fill, tuners will still be in business.

I've ridden and driven in these cars. They are a LOT of fun for the first two or three launches. After that, I was bored. I was like, "Okay, now what?". I didn't get anything out of the car other than the carnival ride. But, I'm spoiled by having been in some really fun and engaging ICE cars. EVs just can't compare in that regard. I think cars like the Plaid will appeal more to younger people that didn't grow up with a different type of car.
If all you did was straight line pulls in a Tesla then you've missed out a lot. Back when I bought my model 3 performance I only went to test drive one because they would let me launch it for fun. I didn't realize it was actually a dynamically good car and end up buying it as a DD...and backup track car as my Evo sits atop it's throne of jackstands. With some light brake and suspension mods and big tires it comes alive. Highlight is the ridiculous corner exit acceleration more than straight line.
The way I see it, it's propellers vs. jets. I'm sure the experience of flying a P-51 is amazing, but jets rule the sky now. We don't even have a real EV Sports car available yet.

Still not fun for me. I wouldn't even be mentioning it, other than the thread title is asking.
I do love the Tesla, and it has a ton of potential. Just needs real diffs and for us to have a bit better control over power delivery.
With the open front and rear diffs, my Model 3 still doesn't touch my Evo on corner exit. It also doesn't give full power with the wheel turned. So it cuts power while I'm at apex where I'm already rolling to full throttle in the Evo. The Evo will put down all of it where Tesla act truly like a RWD and FWD car not an AWD car. If one end slips then it cuts power rather than shift where its going. As long as 1 wheel can pull you thru, the Evo will keep trying to put down all power.

I know if you "love your bumper" you probably lose atleast 2 secs in autox
I'm thinking theres probably lots of sensors in there I dont want to break/trigger
A Tesla regularly gets top time of the day, at our events, despite lots of other drivers in capable cars, including a national champ.
I get the speed part, I just like to have more.
Offer me the keys to the Tesla or a Honda Civic. I'll pick wringing out a Civic every time.
I'm weird, I know.

Most likely your next NEW car will be electric!

I agree, but it will be ICE too. I've had a PHEV SUV for a year and it's pretty awesome. Electric for putzing around, turbo inline 6 for the business (towing/long drives), or both for the G's. Spares the ICE from a whole lot of unnecessary wear and tear.
The loophole appears to be that for regulation purposes .gov considers plug-ins the same as EV's as long as they get a certain range in electric only.
I'm just waiting on my poor mans 918.
Brembo is about to roll out the next generation of braking too, so I'll also be holding out for that.

EV's are definitely the future for transportation. enthusiast cars are going the way of the horse... the rich will be able to afford to keep them in their garage or whatever and trailer them to the track with their electric truck. Although towing still has a ways to go with electric, so far all the electric trucks that have been tested for towing range are abysmal. But for the enjoyment of driving around a track... I'm having a hard time imagining an EV winning out. I mean faster sure... eventually, they'll even get faster in the corners... but I can't imagine one being more fun than an ICE powered car. I wrote essay statement about this question and followed tips of letter of recommendation writing service
