Subaru just killed the STi
Don't get me wrong. Yulon cars are still awesome and highly desirable. If they export to North America, I may even buy one. However, the years when Yulon was so popular in Asia thanks to the subsidies and favorable policies have proven to be temporary.
There is a lot of time left on the table before electrification mandates come into play and even then that still might not happen if the market doesn't have huge demand. Outside of California the demand for electric cars is very small, and also in other parts of the world (outside of the wealthy western nations), market demand for ICE powered cars will remain long afterwards. I'm pretty sure Ford will have ICE powered Mustangs, and Honda ICE powered SI/R, and BMW ICE powered M cars right up until the electric mandates come into play, So Subaru is just being lazy and blowing smoke...why even bother with the new WRX then? (which they also managed to F up).
I think once the electric pickups hit the market, that will change. You could even think of it as just buying a mobile power wall. The cost to watt hour ratio on the lightning was pretty good just from a power storage standpoint.
I hear the R1T is incredible to drive.

Yea I agree with this point. Now that they killed the ICE STI the only ICE the STI will ever be known for is EJ25. If the STI is brought back on an electric platform then it competes with the Tesla Model 3 Performance and the Lucid Air. I feel like that going to change the price range of the STI.
2030-2022 is going to show us how well Japanese companies can change their current offerings and switch over to electric.

I agree as well. I guess Subaru don't want to do what Mitsubishi did to Lancer Evolution, i.e. creating the Evolution X with no direct DNA link to the original Lancer Evolution heritage. No offense to Evo X owners but truth be told, its a totally different though its performance is at par or better than previous Lancer Evolution. They could have named it Lancer Sport GT. As for the Subaru WRX STI, putting a new engine would have cut all link to the original WRX STI heritage. Unfortunately, there is no model number on the WRX STI for Subaru to name it as WRX STI X..lol

These types of statements are so stupid now. The Evo 10 has been proven a billion times at this point.
What's hilarious is this exact argument was going down in the early 2000's, but then it was cp9a vs. ct9a. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I guess. The way I see it, it was made by the same people, in the same place, for the same reasons, with the same fundamentals. Same parents, same DNA.
I like when people correlate the evolution badge strictly to the lancer, because the lancer was the only evolution mitsubishi ever produced, right?
That means the 6g74 powered evolutions are really ****ed

Hey! Evos have to have the 4G63, AWD, and 4 doors....unless it's a GVR4.
