Yeah it's just not worth the hassle. I've been demodding my s14 for this very reason, but its still a far cry from my stock Evo in terms of normal car standards.

The coilovers aren't even that aggressive but it made a huge difference in NVH and comfort for that car and its the main reason I'm hesitant on getting a set for the Evo..
Ohlins ride probably better than stock, especially if you are on the stock KYBs. I wouldn't worry there.

Hmm I'm assuming theres just more road noise from the pillowball joints?

Has anyone used the Ultimate Racing HFC? I heard thats the best HFC for keeping the fumes to a minimum.

My experience with pillowballs on my factory bilsteins, and the Ohlins is that they only make noise when they are loose.

Nothing spherical/pillow ball/etc I've ever had made noise.

I may just have to take the plunge then. My MR Bilsteins arent leaking, but they have 15Xk miles on them and replacing them with new HD struts and springs is already half the price of the Ohlins..

I've had KYB, MR Bilsteins and now Ohlins on my Evo 8. I really couldn't say enough good things about them. Really just transformed the experience of driving the car in all the right ways. I plan on putting them on my X MR when they come up for replacement.

For context, I don't track or hoon my evos*. They are tools I use every day to live my life.

*Nothing wrong with that, just not my use case.

I just upgraded by car from MR Bilsteins (115K miles) to Ohlins R&T purchased from Performance Shock. I also went poly bushings all around. Been driving the car every day 30 miles for about 3 months and impressions are that the R&T are much stiffer than the old Bilsteins. This is even the case with the R&T at lowest setting. Results in pretty bouncy ride. Great at high speed but around town they're pretty bumpy. Spooled_IX, I'll let you go for a ride in my car if you want and check it out since I'm also in the SD area. Check your IM.

Sounds like an adjustment in spring rate and/or settings may be in order.
They are superior to anything OEM.

Personally I wouldn't run poly bushings on the street. For any of the factory sphericals poly is actually a downgrade(unless they also contain spherical bushings). Mitsubishi sells upgraded bushings/sphericals through ralliart. I am really happy with those for the street.

In retrospect, I should have gone with the raliart. For my car, any location that had factory sphericals were replaced with OEM and all other locations were Poly. Really not looking forward to redoing all those bushings again. What a PITA.

Also sounds like I need to take the car up to KT or Muellerized and have them sort out the Ohlins. Thanks for all the advise Kaj and Biggie. Really appreciate it.

Do they make Ralliart rear diff bushings that eliminate the clunk during shifting without the gear whine?

Maybe in terms of performance..but the springs are what, 3x as stiff compared to OEM? Not saying that would contribute to a bouncy ride if the dampers are working properly, but definitely a little more spinal compression on bumpy roads lol

Spring rates matter a little but as long as damping is correct for the spring rate, it should be fine. Assuming we're not talking about an extreme rate, of course.

To each there own. Hard to build most cars for what an evo is capable of for the same price if you want something that makes 8-900whp. 900whp rwd cars are dangerous on the street, have to drive them gingerly. Evo is still very point and shoot even at that power level.
