Last mint RS sold for 42k. GRC are 50k + and most dealers are asking 10-20k markups. My values are off how? I’d obviously be willing to put cash on top for the right car

Prices changed alot since that one was sold. That was years ago (pre-covid) pricing. No way it would go that cheap today. I think you need to re-evaluate your goals here.

35k miles is more than 30k miles (but close)
Sale date was November 2019… two years ago

You took my original post the wrong way. I wasn’t trying to give you a hard time, I’m just saying that the specific Evo RS that you’re hoping to find is a needle in a haystack, and you’re underestimating how much they will go for, if you’re basing the going rate on past transactions.

Mileage only goes up. Cars only get older. The supply only gets smaller. But the demand has been very consistent, if not increasing. Other posters on this thread have affirmed that, and searching for your ideal Evo will, too.

Good luck with your search, I really do hope you prove me wrong.

I am a big hot hatch guy and always had them. I then went hunting for a mint low mileage IX or IX MR. Found a 1 owner, mint, all original, and paid a pretty penny.

Am I a dummy for paying GR corolla money for 16 year old car? to some people I certainly am.

Given the market adjustment, a GR would cost me about 10K more.

I am absolutely loving my Evo. If i keep it 5 years, I am sure I will do fine on the resale market, and can pick up a GR then if I desire.

At the end of the day, EVO vs GR, you cant go wrong. Your money, spend it how you wish.

good thing I never got discouraged by other forum haters because I wouldn’t have found the 5 close to delivery mileage classics I’ve purchased in the 4 years.
If you are seeking a low mileage RS then more power to you. However the way you went about looking for one is questionable and counterproductive. Have you thought about hiring a car broker to find this ultra rare car?

Also based on your username I have to assume you like VWs which are known to have great interiors and luxury features for a lower price point than Audis. The Evo RS is like the GRC Morizo Edition which is reversed in pricing. The Evo RS was the cheapest Evo model one could buy while the GRC Morizo is the most expensive GRC which strips out luxury features.

Being an RS owner is a curse not a blessing.

Speak for yourself! It was a blessing when I had mine, got it at 25k miles and back then it was the least desirable model to everyone else, to me it was always the top model. Rare, stripped race ready car. No useless bells and whistles. Purpose built and ready to mod. My goal is to once again own a low mile evo 9 rs. However unlike OP I have no delusions about how much its going to cost me. By the time im ready to buy, im expecting to spend around 100k for that perfect unicorn (will start looking around 2025-26 as im still saving up)

Nah I have come to terms with owning an RS. I am way past the honeymoon phase of it. It was my first Evo and it will be with me until its taken away without my consent. I only track it now and I enjoy the Evo more that way after 12+ years of ownership.

Best weirdest wizzing match in ages!
I wasn't paying attention, did they give the 'Rolla a pile 'o cassis stiffening? Like welds n metal, not just a sway bar set.

no clue!

I am a lowly MR owner - who spent GR money on a evo. LOL

I was 2 weeks late - otherwise would have owned this instead of my ugly MR

43k for that car.

So like I said, I’m on the money. Nobody is getting any GR Corolla under 50k right now. MSRP is nearly impossible. My car is worth 50-55 so I think I am more than fair.

I have 20+ cars, I prefer stripped out which is why I like the RS. VW in my name is from my old daily back in the day. I do love VWs though lol.

The point is that likely no one will trade you. I still don't comprehend why you didn't just buy an RS and save $, if that's the car you actually want.

That car is an evo 8 rs, there's quite a difference in price between 8/9 and it even that doubled in value in 3 years. With prices still on the rise and less available you'll likely have to search for someone that owns one and incentivize them to separate with the car with an offer they cant refuse. Itl likely be years before a below 30k mile evo 9 rs even pops up for sale again. Just because a car sell for a certain amount on an auction site it doesn't mean you can get one for that much whenever you want.
