GR Corolla in the best spec coming in. Am I crazy ?

I have a GR Corolla core with triple diff pack, cold weather pack, and JBL sound coming in.

The only other car I would purchase at this price in todays economy, is a low mileage stock evo 8 or 9. I was thinking - when I get it I would see if anyone with a low mileage, stock, original paint 8/9 would be willing to trade. A lot of people I’ve mentioned this to think I am absolutely bonkers given the current drought of GRC due to low production / dealer markup/ dealers keeping them for themselves. What does everyone think?

Seems sane but I doubt someone with a pristine evo would want a grc

Why not just have bought a low mileage ct9a? That's what's a little confusing. But I think what folks want for them evos is outrageous tho.. I personally love a hot-hatch, and the GRC checks a lot of boxes. I would be too scared to drive/enjoy a pristine low mileage 9 also, considering parts scarcity is only gonna get worse.

I don't want to buy from dealers, and I do not have the time to scour classifieds for one. If I could find any trim stock 8 or 9 with under 10k miles I would trade even no questions asked. Considering most GRCs are selling 50-60k + I thought that was very fair

Both cars are fantastic and you'll have a blast in either. Hope you find one and have a great time!

You’re dreaming. That kind of Evo — the rarest model, and in pristine condition with that low miles and no mods — is pretty much a unicorn and would go for way more than your car.

values are bang on. Look at comps.

I’m dreaming? You’re clueless. Regardless if the right car came up, I’ve got enough money to buy it straight without trading anything if I needed to. Not concerned - figures someone with such a stupid username would have a dumb response like yours

Perhaps when I first signed up on this forum 20 years ago, I should’ve picked a name that would offend you less in 2023.

Have fun finding and acquiring that unmodified Evo RS with under 30k miles whenever you build your time machine with Uncle Rico.

classic clueless forum member. You know how many times I’ve heard “Good luck finding [insert car here]

good thing I never got discouraged by other forum haters because I wouldn’t have found the 5 close to delivery mileage classics I’ve purchased in the 4 years.

Awesome, I can’t wait to see the pics of this unmodified Evo RS with under 30k miles in your driveway and its bill of sale

They're not even close to "bang on" and there are no below 30k mile usdm 9 RS's recently enough sold to compare to. Only one was a pretty high mileage one with rust that went for around 45k plus fees on cars n bids. One with under 30k miles, today in pristine condition would likely hit 90k if not 6 figure territory. These cars are rising fast. That assuming you find someone crazy enough willing to trade that car, you'd have to pay cash.

Yes, you are crazy (respectfully). What is the point of buying a GRC if your end goal is to trade for a clean low mile evo? Just go get the evo, it would be a similar price range... And no sane person on this earth with a low mile mint RS would even entertain the idea of trading straight up for a GRC. Put 30k on top and you might move a seller that really needs the cash. Also consider the fact that the evo owner will need to be looking to get a GRC as well, which is probably very few of them.
