Mmm, not sure really. They go from 85-87 from what I see. I think it started in 84 tho...

Oh and if you can, download the fansub version of the anime. Tokyo Pop completely SCREWED over everything in the anime. Everything from changed names (Iketani to COLE!? WTF!) and wrong descriptions of how a rotary engine works. Meh, they screwed up bad.

Oh well, on the plus side, anyone who has the 86 will be able to sell it easily nowadays cause of people who see the anime. I wanted it too till I realized that there are a LOT better drifting machines out there. Sure, the 86 is good but in the anime, they DID give Takumi god mode

Make sure you buy the GTS version...it has the 4AG motor, some GTS's will also have the factory LSD (very rare).

Great car...I owned one that I built for autocrossing.

Marcio, just put a new engine in there i know my dad's Corolla lasted 270k miles..then something terrible happened to it haha, if that says anything to u. I think it's basically the same engine too..

I want one of these cars too..I saw someone with a turbo one producing over 200 hp but it was 8000 bucks..that's a little too high in my opinion. But good luck searching.

LSD = Limited Slip Differential. It's not a part of the engine..it basically limits the slip (as it says) of the tires for more traction.
