M5- I don't believe this!
Guys & Gals:
I just came across this snippet on Autoweek regarding some times on the new V10 M5.
http://autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?p..._code=02986726
The 0-60 seems very believable but 0-155 in 14.9? For comparison sake the 1100 lbs lighter, 50 HP stronger (lots more torque too!) Saleen S7 takes over 20 seconds to reach the same plateau with VERY aggressive high end gearing. What's the concensus?

Obviously a typo. Maybe they meant 24.9??? A car like that with 500hp, it doesn't seem unreasonable to think that 25 seconds to get to 150 is out of the question. Maybe thats what its supposed to be?????

I think 24.9 sounds about right, but I remember in an older Autoweek where they had a multi-page feature on the concept car, 14.9 sounds like the time in which it took it to hit 120. I'll dig it up later today.
Yes, that is an awesome car. Would be a hell of a car to do a 3 year lease on. But, it's very expensive and going to require lots of servicing. The stats are very impressive, but it's still very large and very heavy.
Checked the April 26th issue of Autoweek. The article claimed the M5 managed 0-120 in "a sports car-like 12.7 seconds".
I doubt it can build another 30mph in 2.2 seconds. That would be absurdly quick, but, we'll have to wait and see, right? The new M5 will debut as a 2006 model year.

Most high-performance cars can achieve 90% or more of their top speed in 40 seconds or less. There was an old shootout a while back that Road and Track or someone did with a bunch of cars, and that was more or less the case.
Also, keep in mind this beast does have a 7-speed tranny. Nothing to say that the car is only geared to hit 190 or so (barring wind resistance), and is geared to hit some extremely high cruising speeds. 150 in 15 though is just out-and-out frightning though if its true.

service is free with the BMW nowadays
Update, as per top gear the Enzo gets to 280km/h (174mph approx) in 19.6 seconds. I highly highly doubt, the far heavier, less aerodynamic 4 door M5 will basically match the Enzo's performance through 150MPH. Other cars 0-150 MPH time off Car and Driver:
GT3 23.9
Ford GT 16.9!
Ferrari 360 CS 23.9
Finally found the Enzo 0-150 on supercars.net 14.1 NO chance in hell the M5 can nearly match that.

Just remember, folks. The M6 is supposed to best the M5 by a significant amount -- 550HP was the number that the V10 was supposed to put out.
Germany is engaged in a gigantic pissing match. By 2010, I wouldn't be surprised if there are some absolutely ridiculous toys coming out of Germany.

To me this car is only a little bit better looking than the regular 5 but still very ugly.
It's a huge engine and with lots of power, yes, one would expect accelerations like that even on a heavy car like this.
I'd love to see it on the track in the wet weather. They say the car has programs so you lower the horsepower (electronically) so you can restrain it. WTF?
I'm not impressed at all. Almost 2 tons?! No matter how good the suspension is, laws of physics can not be beat. At least noone has done it yet.
