I have a homie that has a '03 Cobra and keeps saying that it is better than the Evo 8 in every way. So I was just wondering what everyone's opinions are on that. What makes the Cobra the overall better car or what makes the evo 8 a better car in your opinion?

 

stock for stock,Evo=Better car,Cobra in most cases slightly faster car.Evo will out handle,out brake,has more room inside for 4 adults,better gas mileage and can drive year round,not to mention it is not a piece of *#@t FORD

 

how could a domestic ever be better than a import? tell your mustsuk cobra friend he needs to stop smoking that stuff it bad for him.

 

thats about it... stock 1/4 times are 12.5@112-115 for the cobra... thats a big enough gap to say the cobra wins on that issue.. i have a few friends who have 03+ cobras and i've never seen a car that can resemble a Supra so many ways...

Dump 5k into an evo and total cost including price of car=03 cobra.Did I mention that you will be saying Bye-Bye Cobra,see ya and I wouldn't want to be Ya.

 

Drag Racing: cobra > Evo
Everything else: Evo > Cobra

Stock for stock in a STRAIGHT line its not really close, but I dont want drive in a straight line all my life!

 

thats not correct... i've seen my self that a 03 cobra with JUST a bolt on Kenny Bell, intake, and exhaust went 9s at Dallas's track for Fun Ford 2 years ago..

and both cars cost the same..

Are you sure the cobra is slightly faster?? I have a friend with a evo 8 with downpipe, turbo catback, cams, BOV, turbo timer and boost controller and all I had was intake and exhaust 600 miles on the odo and when we raced I pulled him the first and second was dead even. I've now added pulley and chip to that combo and while he traps 107-108 in the 1/4 mile I'm trapping 118-120 (first time at track). These 2 cars are totally different cars. What do the evo's trap stock? Cobra's trap 110-115 mph. I love the evo's and they're very nice cars. But if you want a drag car Cobra's the way to go. If you like to autox or rally evo's the way to go. My friend love's his evo and I love my Cobra. We can argue all day long. Just two different opinions and that's what makes this life a little less boring. Peace.

 

with minimal mods the evo can hold its own against the cobra in unfavorable positions...i raced a 03 cobra with exhaust from a 30 mph roll and we were neck to neck till about the end of 4th gear then he pulled away....all i had was exhaust and boost controller set to 21 psi

 

03 cobra=35K + kenny bell super charger add 3k more,intake and exhaust another 1k not to mention all the stuff done to engine that the owner neglected to tell you about.I have been drag racing for over 15 years and 1 thing for sure is that everyone at the dragstrip has a "Stock" car,just ask them

 

Oh and don't think the Cobra can't handle. It'll handle it's own on the slaloms. Even though the age old chassis the IRS is very well built. By the way I bought my Cobra for 27 k out the door with 500 miles on it with about $600 in mods. I should see some 11's with some more drag time.
