i love my evo, but no denying it- as a drag car- the cobra is the best bang for the buck.

i'll stick wit my evo though.. i love being able to drive in the snow and still be fast as hell

 

Very well spoken coming from a Cobra person, I wish all the V8 mustang guys were this open minded about both of these cars for EVESNAKE!!!

 

Some people are always in stage 1 (Denial). Please people, as many people have already said, I love my EVO too but the FACT is cobra is a faster straightline car. Just admitted, nothing wrong with that. But just know that the EVO is the better all around car. Don't give me sh*t about putting this or that on the EVO and the EVO will eat the cobra for lunch. Put the same money in the cobra, the cobra will rape the EVO (in a straight line). We are talking about stock vs stock. Not stock vs mod.

 

No offense, but Cobra's can't handle. You may think it can, but the reality is that the IRS is set up too stiff and it bump steers too much. It's a compromised IRS design made to be easily installed on the assembly line, more so than to handle better. A 2000 Cobra "R", now that car CAN handle. A Bullitt Mustang with its solid rear axle, that car can handle. Either one of those cars is several miles per hour faster than an 03 Cobra through a handling course. I know this because I'm lucky enough to have tested all of the above. And I'm not Mustang bashing here, I own a Mustang that also can handle, it's called an SVO Mustang. It may have been underpowered compared to the five-liter cars, but it did outhandle them and handily too.

 

The Evo can out handle the Cobra stock due to the fact that it is AWD. But when it comes to potential, the Evo and Cobra are on the same level.

My reasons they are:
1. With simple and minor bolt-ons both cars can produce amazing amounts of power. Ex. The Cobra can push 450+ rwhp from the following items. Two aftermarket pulleys to replace the stock pulleys for the blower, and an ECU programmer. The programmer raises the fuel intake and psi.

2. AWD or not. Both cars can handle the corners amazingly. Sure, the Cobra needs some suspension mods. But so does the Evo right? Evo needs sway bars to increase ridgidity, etc.

So, you can't say the Cobra is a piece of **** when it can produce amazing #'s like the Evo. Try not to be so biased. It's good to keep an open mind about cars. You'll be amazed how much you'll learn.

Completely agree with you Evo neil. But for such a nose heavy car it does quite well for my needs on the streets. I doubt that I'll ever see a track other than the 1/4 mile. And as for snow... I live in sunny Cali so no need to worry about that. I love the pure adrenaline rush I get when I mash on the pedal and blow the doors off a Z06. That's enough for me.

 

i remember hearing the '03+ cobras run pretty good numbers on the skidpad

 

If you have ever owned a Ford,or made a living working on them,you can easily see where I am coming from.Ask anyone who makes a living working on fords and they will tell you the same,Praise to people that buy the Ford,they help pay my mortgage and buy all my toys for me.Thankyou all the Ford owners of the world,and my family thanks you as well.If they were reliable cars i would have to sell my toys and house.Thanks again!!!!

 

Yeah cuz most ford folks can work on there own cars.... They dont **** and moan about the manufacter not covering the clutch cuz they beat on it. Dude your as closed minded as they come. Your worse then Corvette guys!

 

The stock cobra SC is not effecience at all. It's basically blow the air in, but doesnt compress the air like a some of the aftermarket or the one use in the Saleen. I dont know the exact detail on this, but this is what I obtain from the cobra guys. Cobras are badass cars guys, the reason why most dislike it because there are so many damn mustangs in the street!!!

Just because a car is AWD doesn't mean it is a good handler. The evo has other things going for it, stiff chassis, suspension mods, good tires, center of gravity, relatively light weight, etc.

The evo already comes with a lot of suspension and handling mods STOCK.

Agreed.

The stock Cobra is a bad *** car, but it's not the all around performer that the stock evo is. It was never meant to be. Different strokes.

 

Damn some people are *ucking ignorant. Hey most of you guys on here are pretty cool and open minded fella's. TurboDan you sound a lot like the Evo I raced a few weeks back. Cocky lil *itch said he only races for money and I'd better be careful cause he was pushing 350 whp. The out come was "give me my money trick". By the way we raced from a dig twice. And I doubt he was pushing 350 whp cause it wasn't pretty.

 

If you only knew how to work on cars then you could speak ,but as far as closed minded,the facts seem to hurt some peoples feelings.I never once said anything about the evo being the greatest thing out there,i simply said Fords are @#*t,thats it and is a fact.Hell,ford is not even the #2 auto manufacture,they have slipped to #3,behing Toyota and General Motors.That is sad when a foreign Owned auto company beats you out on overall sales.And as far as this thread,

Dude, you could say that about any technician that works at a dealer. Having worked previously as a dealer service advisor I can tell you that they ALL break and they all have issues. The service departments are where the dealers make their money. Honda technicians, Mercedes technicians, and Ford technicians will all tell you the same thing, they ALL break.
