Sure they are # 3 now and is # what what....?? As far as I am concerned, is a piece of Sh*t too. There only good car is the EVO. You think is a really realiable car??? I can see honda and toyota but in general is no better than Ford. If it wasn't for the EVO, I wouldn't buy a . Hell, if Ford made the EVO, I still would have bought it.

the cobra is a fast car but only in a straight line, on the road course, well thats another story. However its a pretty even match on the drag strip with an evo in my opinion.

I dont care if the car does 1/4 in 10 sec flat stock. I would not buy a mustang...Even though I'm American I dont trust them when it comes to cars.

I have to agree. You know no one here has mentioned how it would do against an RS. I've raced a '03 cobra(with the supercharger that it comes with stock), he told me that he dynoed at 487hp, (he said he had exhaust, intake and some ECU tuning, i think he needs to have a 10psi pully to put those numbers, but that another story) but when we went at it, he did pull away but not by much like what you would have thought, my evo was stock. I've been to a lot of dyno meets and i know with just 3gs in mods to my evo it would take him in every kind of way. I go to the track often (Road Circits) and know there would be a big diffrence in lab times, even hp can make up for a car that handles and that can brake late in to the turn. As long as you keep you exit speeds up, he wont even come close the the lab times.

I can tell you guys something, the RS will pull by a hair on an Audi RS6.

FORD = Fix Or Repair Daily
For starters, I am a EVO owner and a former '98 Cobra owner.

No one in a can cast stones at Ford related to build quality or # of repairs. has plenty of issues. and trust is a funny story since there are several former execs in jail over some very untrust-worthy stuff.

Ford quality is way up compared to the 70's when the "Fix Or Repair Daily" stuff got batted around. I was very pleased with the quality and lack of repairs in my '98 Cobra.

So, build quality and # of repairs can't be a factor.

I agree with the common thread--EVO is better all around; Cobra is faster in the straight line. To each his own.

man... seems that's all most ppl care about is straight line performance... which is saddening... yeah, driver talent may play a role in dragging, but, it's nowhere near the skill levels needed to run a car on a closed track, and rings around an oval doesn't count for closed track racing...

You want something you can win dick waving exhibitions of speed, go with the mustangs.. their drivetrain will handle the mindless beatings of drag launches and foot-jacks...

You want a car that can humiliate cars two, three, or more times it's cost on a closed circuit... a car that inspires confidence behind the wheel... a car that "could" hold it's own in a drag... a car that's control is amazingly balanced... and a car that can seat 4 comfortably, be driven in bad weather, has useable trunk space, basically practical... well... basically a car that'll do it all, and in style, and comes with a 10-year warranty, get an Evo...

oh yeah... foot jacks are cool and stuff, but, all 4 tires going up in smoke at the same time doing a cyclone burn is by far more impressive and cool looking

How many Evo owners actually go out and race on a closed course?? Probably not too many. You think drag racing is just hitting the gas and going straight then you're outta your minds. Try launching a car with over 500lbs of torque to the wheels and not losing control. I promise it's not that simple. Like I said before eveyone has their own opinions. Don't talk $hit about Ford quality cause I know Mitsubishi isn't any better. And about your 10 year warrenty you can just throw that out the door cause just like Ford and our warrenty issues I think Mitsubishi might be a little bit more uptight on that.

LMFAO EVESNAKE is SO right! Mitsubuishi People knocking ANYONE on quality is moronic at best, and as far as warranty goes.... OMG lets not go there.

You'll have to forgive some of them man, every board has them. You know the " I HAVE THE BEST CAR IN THE WORLD" crowd.

My dad's friend put a few thousand in to his 03 Cobra and melted a piston. Ford wanted $15,000 for a new engine, but a local speed shop fixed it for $5,000. I'm sorry, but if you want quality, go Japanese. The Cobra's interior is so dated and chick, it's not even funny. Hmm??? 8mpg's or 23mpg's??? I know my pick.

the evo has a crappy interior too just like the mustang

23mpg vs 8mpg...that's bs...they get about the same

Mustang

I'm sure somebody sent a link to the good ol' boys on the Mustang sites by now. They have to be loving this the same way we do when we see a post on the SRT-4/Celica/Audi/Golf sites.

i wouldn't trade my Evo for a Cobra, but that doesn't mean the Cobra isn't any good... i drive my friend's Cobra around every so often and i love the feel and aura it gives off...
