They are both nice cars.

People buy whatever appeals to them.

Looks are very subjective. And, as others have stated, if your priorities are drag racing, then you buy car X.
If you want to do autocrossing or race track events, then you buy car Y. If you want a practical car, you buy car Z.

Almost every car out there has some redeeming quality about it.

The problems with these types of comparisons start when someone bashes another car.

If people would avoid doing that, threads would be much more enjoyable and informative!

cobra is faster than a evo, but its still just another mustang to me. If only they make
cobras look diffrent form the other sorry as models that they make. I'll consider owning one. Just like the lancer to the evo, same platform different animal.

Evo owners like us just can't win againts V8 (two motors) in straight line.
You can mod an evo, so can a cobra. Liter for liter an evo will out perform.

Im a mustang fan myself but also a evo. Your friend should just keep his rude comments to himself because a evo isn't your everyday car but then again also a cobra. A evos cornering is far superior than a cobra but as mercedevo said, face to face a cobra would out perform a evo in a signal light to signal light race. Anyways on looks its just all on how you view it. Like I said your friend however, should just respect your car and you should do the same or else some bad blood could occur over some silly car opnion.

Sure, it may TRAP 110-115, but the EVO still beat it's 1/4 time. Guaratee as the Cobra's sitting there roasting the tires off the line...the EVO's already hit the 60' mark.

What a f ucking load of s hit that statement is. What facts are you basing this statement on? Interweb lure? Show me facts to back this statement up. Regardless of what some of you nutswingers think, there is absolutely no replacement for displacement.

Yes, I am an EVO owner.

Unless the guy in the mustang knows how to drive and the f ucktard in the evo is sitting there roasting his clutch. Another idiotic statement. You are the loser.

You guys f ucking suck. Why is there even a comparison between these cars? Apples to Oranges. Lets compare a rally bred car to a 1/4 mile monster.

Sorry gonzo, but evos and cobras run similar quarter mile times. Evos get the traction, cobras get the pulls-from-a-roll. And frankly, the cobra is not a quarter mile monster. Its very good, no doubt, but any other car making similar hp numbers will smoke it. Case in point: the evo. Not to mention the z06 corvette (less hp but less weight). Even Mach 1's are similar in the quarter mile time, and they have much less hp and torque. And yes, the evo does outperform the cobra liter per liter. The evo already puts out over 100 hp per liter at the wheels, the cobra can't do that at the crank (this argument seems pointless, though, because hp/liter doesn't make a car fast). And finally, I agree with you on the dispalcement issue, but it doesn't really matter. Very few car owners who plunk down 30k for a new cobra or evo are going to fully develop the engine and extract maximum hp numbers from it, so it doesn't matter what the potential is for the average owner.

I have taken a ride in one. Not that impressive really and they aren't that fast through the 1/4 mile stock either for coming s/c from the factory. The blocks and components are the impressive part to me because you can mod the hell out of it and not worry about the block or components. It is like the V8 version of a Supra motor. As far as stock to stock goes I would much rather have an Evo because they are well rounded cars.

um, here's what I see:
2003 Cobra: 4.6 Litre @ 390HP = ~85HP/Litre
2003 Evolution VIII: 2.0 Litre @ 271HP = ~136HP/Litre

So I would say that statement is correct.

Why would you measure an engine by displacement, though. That is the most useless way to measure an engine.

Weight, external size, and power are whats important.
