You know ... concerning the EVO's ride, I like a complient / responsive ride that tells me what the road is doing under my tires. Tire choice has a lot to do on the EVO. The Advans are extreme, but the Contis I have on now are a good compromise.
I personally tire quicker in the plushness and springy "boing-boing" of a 'modern' SUV. You feel the hole or pavement ripple in the spring action many times over down the road. Talk about being 'disconnected.'

You know it's not fair when you have only the euro-snobs spewing ignorant facts.

Not to mention, the endless ranting back and forth is fun.

Oh, I didn't say anything about it being boring

I just can't understand why they continue to argue against facts that have been proven time and again. But wait, their dashes are nicer, right?

I don't agree with most "experts" opinions about stiffness and ride quality. Most magazines say the Mini-S has a stiff ride that is unbearable, but when I compare it to my friends Spec-V and MAZDASPEED, the Mini-S has a mushy suspension. EVO is not a harsh ride, and is quite responsive. To me, EVO wins in performance. Let the yuppies keep their damn V-dubs, I'll take an EVO any day.

This whole AUTOWEEK is pissing me off. My friend (with an R32) tried bargging saying that "ohh, autoweek says R32 beat the EVO, HAHAHAH" What an idiot. We should all send AUTOWEEK a letter or perhaps make a phone call and tell them to "GO HOME!!"

For the record I don't own an EVO, R32, or STI.. I just want to clear the facts away from the spin.

I said before, you can't compare EVO RS and R32, it's like comparing Lotus Elise and M3 and some idiots said they are both $40k+ cars.

Then another VW moron claims that a EIP 600HP R32 can best the EVO. I told him that there are EVOs doing 500HP+ for years before the R32 existed that tell me to look a Dahlback's Golf... eurosnobs..

Autoweek is a bunch of old men with prostate problems, so of course theyre gonna pick the more "civilized" car of the group. Seems like an oxymoron to me though, most people who are looking at cars like the Evo and Sti are not looking for a soft, overpriced wanna be luxury car in hachback form. Theyre looking for all out best performance and handling for the buck. I agree, I don't think the Evos suspension is too rough for daily use. (though you go up a size or two in wheels and that might change IMHO)

I really don't see the real point of the R32 (US spec at least). Yes it does have awd, and it does have a capable engine. But the weight they added with the awd and all the "luxury" , combined with only 240hp out of the engine stock, doesnt seem that great. The R32 is a nice car, but you pay over 30k for the car and it still accelerates just as fast as a regular Gti. It seems like the car is trying to be two different cars at the same time, but doesnt accel in either area of luxury or sport. Classic example of US buyers getting screwed by less power that the rest of the world.

i agree completely, it's ridiculous. i wonder how long those turbo kits will last on those cars? oh, it's only been out a little while! but surely, since they're german, they'll last till the end of time! yeah right. give me a tried and true platform like the 4g63 any day.

Did you read the same article that I did. They heaped heavy praise on the EVO RS for its speed and handling, say it was "brutal" (that's a good thing). It is the most sporting machine of the 3 (EVO, STi and R32).

They come out liking the R32 in the end because it is "softer." Is that what you want, soft? Not me.

You can make them really fast, but for a really lot of money. Would be the ultimate sleeper.
