Evom bro's it seems a lot of us are getting scammed now. It could be a sign of the bad economy. This is what I recommend in making sure you can always recover your money if you get scammed.

1. Pay by PayPal
2. Never leave any money in your PayPal account. Whenever there is a balance take out the money.
3. Link you PayPal account to a credit card.
4. When paying for items via PayPal have your PayPal account draw the money out from your credit card.

As many of you know if you get scammed PayPal will try to recover your money. If the scammer has emptied his account even though you have had a judgement in your favour you are out the money. PayPal only recovers your money on a best effort basis. If PayPal is unable to recover your money the ace up your sleeve is file a complaint with the credit card company. You will get your money back from the credit card company. The only downside to this is if your claim ratio is close to what you spend through PayPal they may close your account if this happens too often. Due to this reason let PayPal try first to get your money back before resorting to your Credit Card company
believe it or not paypals actually safer to hold money in then an actual bank, because paypal really limits the governments abilities to freeze stuff and the way paypal is setup they dont have to follow a bunch of mandatory rules banks have to. ive had almost 30k in my account for 6 months and it was fine. Now paypals money market absolutely sucks, so ill never be holding those kinds of funds in my account anymore. The interest is horrible.

the part you're right on is linking a credit card to the paypal then using that credit card via a paypal transaction. thats a win win situation, because even if paypal doesn't want to reverse the charges the credit card company will force them to. When you buy with a cc via paypal the cc company determines the outcome, no matter if its fair or not, and paypal will always side on the credit card companies favorable decision.

I sell a lot of things via paypal (600 transactions a month) and what ive experienced is anyone that uses a credit card and files a dispute via the credit card company paypal really gives them the upper hand in the case. sure the case may last 30 days, but 9/10 times they win the dispute.

Also, chances are most scammers will try to withdrawl to a bank and that alone can take up to 4-6 business days depending on bank, and paypal has the ability to cancel a pending bank transfer even if its within 10hrs of clearing. If you have $0 in your account and you owe someone money, paypal will still take the $ and make your account negative.

I think the guy is out of town for a bit. He came into the shop with a bent valve or so from a botched self cam install and said he was going out of town for a bit.

We told him the projected cost and timeframe and he declined to fix it.

Here you go.

Well, he's still logging in to EvoM on a regular basis, so he could at least be responding to PMs explaining to people why he hasn't shipped items that were paid for 3 weeks ago.

Checking feedback ratings is always a good start.

That's great business right there!! I wish more companies were like that.

I remember when I ordered a Stage 1 package from Buschur a couple years ago they completely forgot to include my test pipe in the box of pipes. I didn't notice this until the car was at the shop and one pipe away from having the exhaust fully bolted on (you can guess which pipe).

So the shop had to custom make a 3" pipe to fit in place of where the Buschur pipe would go. Well I called them to explain the situation and ask if I could get a refund of the money that it would cost for a test pipe from them. Figured it was a simple mistake and it would be no problem.

Well they declined (impolitely IIRC) and sent me another test pipe. Although I explained it as their fault for not sending me the right pipe in the first place and that I already had a 3" test pipe made they sent me another. That, to me, was insulting. Oh and I had to sell that pipe at a loss.

Unlike TTR, that's bad business right there. Even something so small made me never want to purchase or recommend a product of theirs again. Customers not only appreciate the big help, but the little things (like over-nighting bolts) goes a LONG way in customer's eyes!

It's tough to base everything on feedback ratings however. A seller feedback rating is kind of like credit -- you can't sell anything without a good rating, but nobody will buy anything from you if you don't have any sales yet. Catch 22 if you ask me. But I guess there's no other way to do it. I can't suggest a better solution.

Tyler Lott/TyeVO, I want my $300.

Just want to give everyone a nice heads-up to keep you from doing business with a real ****-bag.

On August 3, 2009, Tyler Lott posted a thread on here stating that he had a set of D2 RS coilovers in perfect working condition for sale, the only problem was, they did not include any springs. The price was $220 shipped.

Thinking I had found a gold mine, I offered Tyler $300 if he would hold them for me until Friday. He agreed, and I sent him a $20 deposit to show him I was serious. He offers to include an SS clutch line with the purchase since I offered him more than he was asking. I agreed.

Friday rolls around, he of course gets the rest of his payment, and I think all is well.

August 12: Tyler sends me a message stating that he had a family emergency to take care of. I understand, so I say it's cool.

August 19: Tyler sends another message, essentially saying the same thing, apologizing for the delay, and promising to send the coilovers out promptly. I agree, relieved that he would finally be sending out my stuff.

This was the last correspondence I had with him on EvolutionM. After this, I had to hunt him down via email and facebook. When I emailed his address, his girlfriend emailed me back saying that he was a service member unexpectedly deployed overseas. There were some other circumstances involved, but for the sake of OPSEC if it really was true, I won't mention those here.

Anyway, she agrees to send out the coilovers. Being former military myself, I'm pretty understanding of the circumstances, so I let it go.

A week or so later, no coilovers. I send repeated emails to the address, she doesn't respond. I found Tyler on facebook, and while he doesn't look like much of a service member, at least I had found him.

A few days later, I open a dispute with paypal due to the fact I haven't received anything at this point. Oddly enough, as soon as I open the dispute, Tyler contacts me on facebook not even 5 minutes later.

He says that he will get in touch with his girlfriend and make sure she sends them out 2nd day air. She does, I get the tracking number, and I close the dispute.

This was about a week ago now. I received the coilovers last Friday.

Everything is fine, except the ****ing adjustment knobs on the coilovers are seized up with rust.

I used some PB blaster on them, and got one loose (though it doesn't click into place like it should) and the other one snapped off inside when I tried to turn it.

This is absolute horse****. I wait over 1 month and pay $300 for worthless junk. And to top it all off, I'm screwed I think, because since I already opened one paypal dispute, I can't open another one.

Mods, sorry if this is the wrong section, I just think that this is the place where it will get the most exposure.
