MIR = The Place to be on Nov 6

I believe Nov 6 MIR is having the last Import Vs. Domestic. Suppose to have 1,000s of cars racing and in the car show. Here some more details MIR DRAG

Who is going?

Yeah, I'll be out there, and I think a lot of us from Dc Evo will be there overall.

Steve, there may be 1000 cars, but way more will be in the show than in the race (usually). In my previous competitions at MIR, I always got enough runs. It's a competition, so you have to get your 3 preliminary runs, because you need a test run or two, and then there are qualifying rounds. After that you get your elimination runs, so you won't get just 1. AT the very least, you would get 2 quals and then the comp runs. If you do bracket, then you can race all day if you're good, but you have to worry about a dial-in, which sucks when going for personal bests.

I normally try to get there very early, get tech'd in, setup a spot and drop my stuff (have to claim a spot cuz people move in when you are racing), toss in the race gas, and then be ready to lineup as soon as they start the test runs. If they allow a test run session before quals, you have to try to get in as many as possible during that timeframe.

Last year they didnt have any free runs in the morning like most MIR events. You just got the 3 qualifying runs. They also used the pro tree something I have never used before. The first car I raced was half way down the track before I knew what was going on running a 10.5 lol.

Hmm. Well, 3 qualifying runs is still good at least.

Yeah, the Pro tree is very difficult, especially for someone like me who does a feathered launch instead of a dump. You almost certainly have to dump the clutch to get a good R/T on a Pro tree unless you double-stage before your opponent is ready. That's considered discourteous in drag racing to the point that some tracks enforce it. Not sure about MIR, though, because all of the times in the past at MIR, my opponents and I have always staged properly.

That's cuz of the way the classes are defined. Imports are pretty heavily favored in 3 of the 5 classes. And even the Wild Street and Pro Outlaw classes are gonna be more competitive for the imports. Then there are the sheer number of imports that show up.

There was a time when you could get a couple time runs in at this event. But is has gotten so huge that there just isn't time for that many none qual or elim runs. That's the reason they went to the pro-tree also. If they didn't do that, there would be no way they could start eliminations early enough to get the event done b/f noise ordanences (sp??) kick in.
