Evo at Volkswagen H20 car show
So, no one hates me right? I mean, I'm not going to get boo'd off the forum 'cuz I'm the passenger in an Evo that just happens to drive a super fun GLI, am I?
I was reading through the thread and some jerk face posted this:

Anyone knows the EVO was going to be the bad guy simply because he was in an EVO.
What is with the hatin'? I don't understand why enthusiasts have to be jerks to fellow enthusiasts just because they don't LOVE the same cars...people suck.
Just my GLI and Evo owner 2cents~

wow... seriously... wow.
First off, considering the Evo is sporting an evo VI hood, he's a bit easier to pick out from a crowd. Secondly, I really hope the cops had an opportunity to use the rams. I hate to sound harsh... but all cars involved in this **** needed to have been made police cruiser lunch meat. It's **** like this that give bad names and reps to the good people that just want to enjoy their hobby, cars and meetings. wow... There's a time and a place for everything.. that was neither the time nor the place. At least no one got hurt I suppose. ... still though... wow!

What are you talking about? it is not a FWD it is a AWD turbo twin intercooler Audi. It is the older model that was never imported here to the US. I have seen hundreds while I live in Europe, it is nothing exceptional, just a AWD with 225hp, that is it. The guy imported it but a modern R32 with do loops around that S3.
By the way, the equivalent price is more like $40-45000(back then). Back to the subject, the guy is kind of an idiot, he is trying to impress a crowd of people with a old as hell Audi that is not that fast at all. A 2007 GTI/GLI mark V will equal the performance of that S3.

BERLIN: Alleged drunk driver leads police on chase around dirt horse track
By Patrick Gavin

BERLIN — Maryland State Police arrested an alleged intoxicated driver Sunday evening after police say the man — a participant in the weekend’s car show — drove his Audi multiple times around Ocean Downs Racetrack’s horse practice track before ripping through the parking lot and onto Route 50.
At 5:05 p.m., a trooper monitoring departing vehicles at the racetrack noticed a car driving on the practice track. When the trooper approached in his vehicle from outside the track, the driver, Cort Bennett Sikes, 24, of Austin, Texas, piloted his car to the far end of the track. The trooper later drove his vehicle onto the track as well, only to have the suspect once again keep the center of the track between himself and the officer’s patrol car, police said.
Sikes then exited the track and sped through the crowded parking lot to the far end of the grounds, adjacent to the stables. After an abrupt turn, Sikes hit several grassy mounds and bottomed out, losing the car’s front bumper, police said.
The car eventually made it’s way past the crowds — many spectators having to move to avoid the vehicle — and out onto Route 589 and then westbound Route 50. The driver passed several vehicles on the shoulder and lost a left tire in the process.
Another officer stopped traffic near Sunset Memorial Cemetery, forcing the fleeing vehicle to get stuck on the median, police said.
Police arrested the Austin man, documenting a variety of symptoms of excessive alcohol consumption in police reports. Sikes refused breath tests, police said.
Sikes is being held on $5,000 bond in the Worcester County Detention Center and as of Sunday night had not posted his bond.
State Police were also called to help Ocean City Police with drag racing on Coastal Highway on Sunday night, presumably connected to the auto show, State Police said.
However, Ocean City Police Public Information Officer Pfc. Barry Neeb said the volume of traffic citations issued over the weekend was not out of the ordinary.

I guess they see one bad Evo driver and think all of them are bad. If that was the case I would be a hater of all cars including my own....
to be honest, i can't get over some of this stuff... lol
mainly, the vw guys were cheering on the guy in the evo and they seemed to like him while he was doing it. but once the bad stuff happened with the audi guy, they try to toss the blame on the evo guy. but there were people before the evo guy that went out there and tried, and failed miserably. and yes, i am defending the evo guy because he only went out there and did one lap, then left - at least he wasn't the one throwing rock and **** at people's cars, like they were to him when he left...
on a side note, i know how people treat evo guys. and, after what i hear happened down in oc this weekend along with how they were treating guys i know down there, the dusting of the meet, kinda well deserved

My rant after reading the VW thread's trash talking about the Evo.
The Evo driver at H20i basically bit(hed the entire VW meet by drifting around the track 1 time!
Good for him...
The VWs are the ricers of the euro crowd anyways and threw rocks at our Evo owner. Props to the Evo for a good show, dusting the Evo hating crowd, and leaving unscathed while drunk euro guys got arrested for driving like idiots and crashing their cars into each other during their poor efforts of trying to drift like the evo. Immitation is flattery, + 1000000 for the Evo owner sh@tting on Euro Trash!

Used to own a VW(2.0, and a 1.8T) never hated on other cars..had my own goals in mind. However, it is very true that most of the Euro guys are ignorant to other non Euro cars. Sad.
I've been to a few VW meets down here in miami and they turn their noses down on the EVo....just because.
