I'm already signed up for Oct. 17. Maybe I can change to the 24th; I can't really justify taking two Fridays off in a row.

I'll try calling them next week to see if I can change to the 24th, as long as Wojo will be there... Wojo and I had some fun a couple weeks ago autocrossing against each other....

We might be setting up a NASA event around November as well, so start saving your pennies as that should be an Evo, WRX, Sti event

I'll probably be at an August FATT event if I can get the day off.

It's nothing personal, my fellow Evo owner.

Just that I know Wojo's car is basically stock, the same as mine. And it would be cool to have somebody else running a similarly prepped car, so we can really see how we're doing as drivers.

If you're faster than me, I'll blame it on your modifications. But if Wojo is faster than me, that tells me I suck at driving.

Don't even worry about that part of it. People get caught up in driving fast and they never learn how to drive smooth. Drag Racing is a little different in that you still want to get the fastest time, but track events are more about learning your limits vs. just the cars.

All I know is those who attend are gonna get hooked, so start getting ready to buy rotors, pads, and lots of brake fluid

FATT is definitely not a "day of racing". If you go in thinking that, your instructor will NOT be easy on you. You're there to learn how to drive fast, smooth, and safe. You're there to learn the limits of your car, not to "race" other cars. I've been doing track events for over 3 years now, and I STILL learn something every time I go. Just go in with an open mind, and you'll have fun. Just don't go thinking it's any sort of a competition.

Last Seat Time I went to at Summit there was a guy there in a Silver EVO with just a straight pipe exhaust, intake, and 245/40-17 Hoosiers. Holy CRAP was he fast. The only other car quicker on track was a 2002 911 turbo, and that was only because he could outpower him on the straights. IT was damn impressive. I talked to the driver after one of the sessions and he was SO modest. Just like, "Yeah, it's a fun car to run around here." He definitely had the right attitude. Found out later that he also races a Porsche Boxter in SCCA T2, so he's definitely an experienced driver. Made want an EVO.

I'll have some Hoosiers by then, same size; they're actually en route to my house as I write this. But they are the A3S03, autocross compound. I'm assuming the autocrossing Hoosiers are designed to run a bit cooler than the road racing Hoosiers. I'm not sure that I want to find out how much wear they'll suffer under four 20 minute track sessions. I could easily imagine scrubbing away a couple hundred dollars worth of Hoosier rubber in a single day.

Yeah, I don't know too much about the difference between the A3S03 and the R3S03, but I would imagine theA3S03's wouldn't last long at the track. Even the "race" Hoosiers wear out pretty fast, but they grip like mad. I'll have 235/40-17 V700's for the Auto-X at FedEx on the 10th. I'd rather have Hoosiers, but the V700's are a little more economical.

Damn, I want to go. I've always wanted to try a track event... But with some sort of instruction.

Are there any requirements for going or experience required?

No experience required. They separate the cars into groups, so you'll be on track with other newbies, and their instructors. Warning...once you go, you will be hooked.
