Car Guys Driving School at Summit Point

Hey -

New around here and would like to start learning how to drive my Evo to its potential. I found this Car Guys Driving School at Summit Point on March 8-9. Has anyone else done this? Know any of the instructors?

http://www.carguys.com/index.html

Do you have any other driving schools or track days that you could recommend?

Thanks...

Carguys is a good group to go with. Here's an article I wrote after one of their events: https://www.evolutionm.net/features/article.php?id=75

HPDE - Car Guys Experience

Went twice in 2006....was too busy in 2007...and had good experiences with the Car Guys instructors despite the various levels of instruction...

I was paired up with a single instructor during each event, VIR (full) and Summit Point (Shenandoah), but the demeanor between the instructors was like night and day. Maybe I was coddled a little too much at VIR, but the instructor at Summit Point was definitely more critical of my performance. Just don't be discouraged by the HPDE organization if you get a critical instructor--they're still there so make sure you learn and that you drive safely.

That said, I would still highly recommend them.

@spt Nice writeup Ali

@59Evo Thanks for the advice

I think I'm going to give this try even though I'm feeling a bit intimidated by it.

I may be attending the event as well. The only thing is I may be bringing the I-Club Project STI instead of the evo.

Yeah the weather is the only thing that is unpredictable. Last time I attended a March event the weather was okay (sunny but still kinda cold). Let's just hope we get another string of low 60's type weather that weekend. I also wouldn't mind some rain in warm weather. That's when it gets fun.

You should come out!!!

Sure I've never been there before. Let me know the schedule and I can try to make it up. I also want to attend a FATT event.

Cool keep me updated. Since I haven't attended a FATT event in years I think I'm still in Group 1 . I just need to go back and get signed off. Give me a heads up so I have time to register.

Will do - I think they'll post the schedule soon.

You'll also have to register early - Group 1 fills fast.
