Don't watch the news. Street racing had very little to do with it. Just the "man" trying to come down on our freedoms. Tightening the belt a little more.

That is one of the dumbest comments I've ever read.

You must be the biggest idiot on this forum. Yeah, the news is retarded and repeats the phrase "fast and furious" every 4 minutes, but this incident had everything to do with street racing. It's one of the rare times where the cars racing didn't cause people to die. Of course, an innocent person who was just driving down the highway on his way to work or something now has to live with the fact that he killed 8 people because they were dumbasses and stood in the middle of the road.

This just shows everyone involved in organized street racing like this are a bunch of morons and its entirely their fault that they were hurt. The driver of the car that hit the people is completely innocent, unless there is a whole back story that hasn't been released.

Most "innocent" drivers would not be going in excess of 90 MPH with their headlights and all exterior lights off down a completely dark road @ 2:30 in the morning. The Fact that the people killed and injured were spectators to a street race is the only tie to the whole incident. And to add to that. The 2 cars that were racing as this whole incident occured were......You guessed right if you said "Muscle Cars that were trailored in!"

So now the news is showing street racing as this "fast and furious" thing where a bunch of guys and girls in imports causing trouble.

Get the facts before making comments and calling people names. Yes Street Racing IS ILLEGAL. But so is driving with your lights off @90+ mph on a dark highway @ 2:30 am.

Who said the crown vic had its lights off and was going 90+? Thats right, the same idiots who were standing in the middle of the road watching an illegal street race. These people don't want to come forward and say what really happened other than 'it was the driver's fault that he hit people STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF A DARK HIGHWAY AT 3:30 IN THE MORNING'. The driver himself said that he did have his lights on. I work 10 minutes from the accident scene and have driven on that road all my life. At night, it is very dark with hardly any street lights, so there is no way the driver didn't have his lights on because he wouldn't be able to stay on the road. If you were the cops, who would you believe? The driver who was just going about his day or the people involved in illegal activity?? I'm sure they can do a toxicology report on the driver, or figure out where he was going that early, but odds are he was just minding his own business and didn't expect multiple people to be in the road on his morning commute. You can also argue that he should have slowed down when he saw smoke, but why? That early with nobody on the road and no other lights around, I would have figured it was fog and driven right through it.

Bottom line is these people were racing illegally on a major highway and there were a bunch of spectators that got hit by a car just driving down the road. The spectators are to blame for retards and standing in the middle of the street. The racers are to blame for racing in the first place. You can't really blame the cops, because PG county is huge and there are multiple murders about every night. The police have bigger fish to fry. Don't try and blame the news, because even though they are blowing stuff out of proportion, they have told the truth about what happened.

Just because you feel that 'the man' is trying to hold back import owners from modding their cars or something, doesn't make street racing any more legal or smart or safe. I don't really even know what you are trying to prove with your comments, other than trying to back up your illogical original statement. Since you seem to have all the details, were you actually at the scene?

I'm sorry to hear about your friend, my condolences, but why the hell were you and your buddies out at 1:00 or 3:30 in the morning watching street races? Can't wait 2 weeks to watch the races at MIR from the safety of a grandstand??

I'm sorry again, but unless the crown vic driver knew what was going on at the scene or was completely wasted, I still don't believe he was driving with his lights off. Even in a full moon I doubt you can see 20 feet in front of you on that road.

Edit: Apparently another guy that died was related to someone that works here on my base. He was the uncle of one of the racers, who turned himself in this morning. I also just heard that the guy who hit everyone was supposed to be involved in the next race. (This is all speculation, no idea what is true yet) TruBlu, wouldn't your friends know all the info if they were there?

The guys racing all had non-street-legal cars that were trailored in. I don't see why a stock crown vic was trying to race them, and I can't see why he would have backed up enough to get a head of steam that was enough to create 200 yards of an accident. Simple knowledge would disprove that theory.
