Anyone try PT Tuning’s shop in Manassas VA.

Had to get a wheel alignment and everyone I talked to, pointed me to them. I am pretty picky when it comes to my cars. At my old spot for a wheel alignment, I had to take off the front and rear bumper because the lasers would not connect to do the zhit. Went up to PT Tuning and had no issues because of there equipment. During my time there, I ended up getting a tour of the facility. This place is very nice and the customer service was great.

BTW: I dealt with Darryl and he was very professional.

Thanks for getting my EVO straight-literally.

BTW: It's P Tuning. typing to fast.

Been there multiple times, for an alignment as well, on a my evo (coilovers) and my VR4 (stock w/ECS). Almost took out their power box with my remote start.

Great shop, highly recommended. VERY clean and impressive facility, especially the dyno room and the in-ground alignment machine.

The facilities is nice ther but the numbers on the dyno suck... I had taken my old Mazdaspeed6 there to get some numbers and found out it had a nickname of being a "heart break dyno". Other then that it's a very nice place!

Nice and clean shop. Had my tires mounted with their touchless machine, a few years back. Highly recommend them.

Their shop is so nice! Great guys to deal with and they always take care of you. I have taken my evo there for all tuning I have done to the car and have always been impressed. The numbers on the dyno are low, but are very true and consistent numbers.

Based on what I read here, I called this shop this afternoon to see about tuning my car. They told me that I would need to leave it with them for several days so they can "make sure everything is good." They also told me they would need to road test the car in addition to the dyno tuning. This seemed very unusual.

At that point, I told them I wasn't interested. When I've done this in the past, the shop would put it on the dyno for 2-3 hours, and when they were done, I could drive it home like a new car.

Does this experience sound usual to you guys? Would you leave a Lamborghini with a shop for a few days to include "road testing?" I can imagine how that goes.

I've never had any of my cars worked on by PTuning before, so I can't comment on their work quality/ethics. However, I don't necessarily see what the problem is with leaving the car there for a few days, in of itself. I would ask if they are going to charge you for this once over to "make sure everything is good" and the road test or if it's all included in their dyno tune price. But if you're not comfortable leaving the car there, then, don't.

Also, just a caveat. I don't know why it would take several days for them to do a once over and I'd want to know what they were going to do. I assume a compression check, intake leak test and a check of all fluids and possibly a quick turbo inspection. Other than that, I'm not really sure what else mechanically you would need to check before doing a tune. I mean, you CAN check out everything on the car, but I've never heard of a shop doing so for a simple flash tune. Anyway, good luck and let us know what you end up doing. I personally, highly recommend Atlantic Motor Sports in Maryland.

Several days is extreme. I've never seen a pre-tune check that was more than an hour (unless something was f'd up). That said, remember that lots of people bring cars that are pretty busted to tuning shops and then blame the shop if the numbers don't turn out. For all we know, your car has a bunch of problems with it that you haven't found yet They are probably just trying to protect themselves.

You should ask them specifically what they plan on doing. Relentless's list sounds good.

But several days, that is strange.

I only had one Ptuning experience, getting a set of wheels+tires mounted. The guy asked me if they were for time attack (no, autocross) and why I was running 17's instead of 18s. Seemed like a strange question. Because of where I live, I am closer to the Maryland shops, so I haven't really been back since.

I've gotten tuned and aligned by PTuning. They've always gotten what I needed done and to my requirements. The shop is super clean and the equipment is top notch, so no hack job there. I'd recommend them.
