Sounds like a nicer spot than last years race.

I may go to watch. The tires are high performance all season, and while they have been fine for street use so far, they would not be fun on raw ice.

Well, you know what tires I've got.

BTW, for the life of me, I can't find that model lug nut. Tirerack doesn't sell them, and their supplier apparantly doesn't have them either. Did you trade your cow for them. "Jack, thems MAGIC lugs".

Hell yeah I'm going!! I did my first ice race tonight up on lake winnebago, it was crazy fun!! I won my class too '4wd non-snow tire' but since I was 'the only one stupid enough to show up on all-seasons' I kinda came last in class too.

But I did get to drive a CRX on studded tires, that thing was insane!!

That's what I have (conti extreme contact), and it was a blast!!! I was quicker than a couple of cars on snow tires (not even close to any of the studded cars though).

Really? How was braking on the course? Did the abs kick in a lot or did you turn it off? Im pretty sure I can manage driving on ice, but Im afraid I'll be the turtle on the track because of traction and braking.

This car would be a beast on studded tires!! There was an STi that was absolutely flying on studs!!

Braking is ok, I didn't turn off the ABS, but on these cars the ABS is really cool, it let's you get a bit of lockup before it comes on, so you just figure out where the 'threshold' is and you can rotate the car really well on the brakes.

Doesn't matter if you are, this 'aint the SCCA. These clubs (MSCC and FVSCC) are much smaller than the SCCA and are geared far more to having fun than competativeness, especially at these 'we need something to do in the winter' events.

So no-one cares if one person is slower than the rest, I went to an autocross with a newbie who literally turned lap times 20 seconds slower than the rest of the cars, an instructor was put in the car and loads of encouragement and advice was given by all the members.

Having said that there are rules for classing the cars, and people tend to be alot more honest about classing their car than in SCCA since there isn't that cut-throat competition for a little plaque.

Due to the warm weather this has been postponed until the following weekend. Same time same place, just a week late.
