Milwaukee Fender Bender

Well, I managed to get involved in an accident this morning. I was about 12" away from missing the whole thing but traffic prevented it. Front left corner took the brunt of the hit. Probably need a new hood, quarter panel, and everything behind the front driver's side headlight assembly. Looked like the damage didn't intrude into the wheel well at all. The car started and ran fine, didn't leak a drop of anitfreeze or oil. The most disturbing thing is the strut tower bar appeared bent which made me think the subframe/frame is shot. Best/Worst thing is the other party wasn't hurt at all (hardly any damage either), worst is the poor lady was practically a saint. One of the nicest people I've met.

I saw 2 Evos roll by while I was waiting for the sheriff. Anyone here?

i saw you and beeped and waived. you have a red one w/small spoiler. damage looked pretty bad. i was driving the silver one. you were on your cell phone. traffic was the worst that day. i saw at least 5 accidents. it was getting old in that traffic with my race clutch. 45 min to go 3 miles was bs. glad you're ok. my daughter called renner and they said you were up to $11k on the estimate already, ouch. if you total it pm me. best of luck!

Grand total ~$13K. Some of the prices were nuts. $1500 for an RS headlight assembly, $800 for a wire harness! I wonder if they made a mistake and ordered an HID assembly. In any case Renner said the damage was all cosmetic. Bumper, hood, quarter panel, wire harness, headlight, radiator mounts. Very surpised at the amount of damage for the type of accident, probably impacted at less than 10mph.

The accident itself was bizzare, I'm still trying to figure it out. I crested the hill at 22nd and saw traffic slowing, I rolled onto the brakes and almost immediately started sliding. What makes me think ice was a factor is the tires didn't make any noise, just the good old "pssssss" when you slide on ice. When I pulled over I looked out onto the road and it didn't look like there was any ice there. While I was waiting for the sheriff two accidents happened behind me (4 cars total) and an accident in front of me a couple hundred yards. The sheriff said 67 cars were involved in accidents that morning.

Does your daughter work at Renner?

Renner is way overpriced for everything. Talk to Pete at Midnight he has an extra hood laying around.

Wow, wish I would've known this beforehand. In any case the parts have been ordered already. I just want to get the work done asap and get the car back. Besides if something isn't right I'll take it right back to Renner. Over the past couple days I've heard alot of good things about Renner and State Farm. All told (aside the crappyness of being in an accident) I'm happy with the way things were handled.

Vittorio, is that your wife? Lucky!

Renner is frikin awesome. I got an update today that the car is broken down and cleaned. We're just waiting on parts now. I haven't asked where they're coming from but I wish Fedex would hurry, it's LAME cruising around in this rental car even though the babe at the rental place was smokin.

evorent sorry I didn't contact you earlier. I really wish I knew you were interested before the car was torn down. It's probably bad manners to tell Renner to put it all in boxes and pick up the car. I'll definately pass your info along if I hear of another Evo (God forbid) gets cracked up.
