I appreciate any help

Sounds like you are operating off of the wastegate actuator alone... about 11 PSI.

I bet the previous owner had a boost controller on it. You can either install a MBC yourself to get the boost back in line to what it's supposed to be or install a new set of vacuum lines from the factory. If you search, you'll find the part number that you need. Hope this helps.

Hopefully that is it... I'm going to have Matt take a look at it today, he also needs to install couple more parts. I really want to get custom tuned at Buschur's this Sat. (BTW is anyone else going?). So my HKS Carbon TI came in yesterday and probably going to get Hallman MBC, and be ready for the Sat. But if it's not the MBC then I'm screwed......

Thanks for your help though.

Hey guys,

I know there are couple of posts about this issue, but I wanted to hear what you might have to say? I'm thinking of getting the 6K bulbs for my evo for better look. I have a 03 powered version with sunroof etc, and the hid kit already (I think, that's what my question is about). If I have a hid - do I have to get just 6k bulbs or the whole kit? I want to get that nice blue color of the evos that I have seen around. What do you use? And where can I get a good set?

Thanks

I also have an 03 evo with the HID headlights - The stock bulbs are the "nice blue color" already. You cant really tell inside the car driving or even if you get out of the car and look at them, but driving down the road they have that look. If you are talking about local evos when you say "blue color of the evos that I have seen around" None of the evo owners around the cleveland area that I know have switched to a different bulb. spend the money on some go-fast parts

I agree. Sounds like the prevous owner had an MBC on there and took it off, not reconnecting the lines to the stock solenoid. If you're getting an MBC soon, I'd say don't bother going through the trouble of putting the line back to the solenoid and just wait for your MBC... no need in taking parts off more than once.

BTW - When you do install the MBC, just do yourself a favor and take everything off to the right and front of the block up to the turbo. I tried it by taking off one piece at a time and reaching my hand down there to see if I could grab the w/g actuator line, unitll eventually, I had the whole intake system off plus some of the IC piping, bov, etc... By the end of the day it looked like I got in a fight with a cheese grater and lost. Chicks dig scars though, right?

IF you do get the MBC in before Sat, just turn it all the way down and let Buschur dial it in for you on their dyno. If you're basically stock running 10lbs, you're going to be in for one hell of an awaking if you get that exhaust, flash, and boost up to 21lbs. It'll be a shock to your system in a good way!!!

Matt was doing all the work, and yes everything is not as bad as I thought. No leak, just some dumb *** didn't connect everything back. The exhaust is there right now and Hallman MBC, everything is working , I'm just waiting for a retarted friend to get here and take me to Matt's (damn I'm impatient to get to my baby). I decided not to get tuned this Sat. I'm probably going to wait till next month to get tuned and mean while get the cat-delete, downpipe, Walboro etc. or should I actually do it now.

Or should I actually do it now and hold off for couple months???? I'm near my budget for now.... My set up so far is - Injen Intake, Injen UICP, HKS Carbon TI cat-back, Forge BOV, Hallman MBC..... So what should I do?

P.S The bad news - when I was buying EVO, I was looking for pure stock - now I realized that it had MBC, noticed 2 "vampire" marks on steering wheel column, Matt told me exhaust must have been changed - cause I'm missing one rubber hanger, and my cat is upside down...... , crap!!!!!

Im running the 5800K HID Blubs in mine and they have a real nice purple light to them. Defs better over the stock bulbs. You can get them from www.europeanautosport.com Also you can see a comparison between the stock bulbs and what the 5800K blubs look like just look for the DS2 blubs which is what the Evo has

I saw your Evo while I was at Slicks. Glad Matt worked everything out for you. Now crank the MBC so your boost is back up to 19.5 PSI.

Among the things that you have installed (or soon to install), the Intake and Fuel Pump definitely require tuning. You should wait until everything is on the car, and then get a tune. Getting it tuned now is a waste of effort because you'll need to tune it again after the pump.

The only benefit of installing 6000k light bulbs would be aesthetics. The blue-purple glow isn't necessarily brighter than stock lamps and they are NOT street legal.

A lot of aftermarket bulbs burn out much faster than the stock wattage as well. I have put other bulbs in a few of my other rides, and it always seems to happen. If you want the "look" get them, but if it's longevity you want stick with the stockers.

OH MY GOD !!!!

The car kicks so much ***!!!!!! Wow, that feeling is unbeatible. For the second time in my life I'm in LOOOOOVE . It feels so great at 19 psi and with HKS, words can't describe it.

My EVO was 2nd evo I have rode in. And before buying mine I test drove one at the dealership. It was 03 RS and I remember looking at the boost gauge and it was running 11 psi also. So basicly last night I, for the first time, tried what a real Evo should move like and I gotta tell you it's kick ***, Z doesn't even stand close. . Anyway I'm going to skip this month's tunning and get onto Walboro, cat-delet, DP and so on. BTW what else should I get next (I'm going for about 330-350 whp) and might stop there for probably a year.

Thanks, and Evos rock

I agree. Al is going to be back at Buschur's mid June, so instead of trying to rush everything, just make sure you have everything you're going to want for a while, then get it tuned. No sence in doing it twice, especially when it costs $375 .
