Nope, I am not Comp. E., I am Comp. Sci. so I never had and never will take circuits and that stuff. I have the wiring diagram, but still, I can't do it myself

Spend the money and get the catless downpipe also otherwise you are throwing your money out the window by getting a custom tune for the mods you have.

Open up the intake - intake, MAF pipe, intercooler pipes
Open up the exhaust - downpipe, cat delete pipe and catback

THEN get a custom tune.....wasting money on a tune otherwise.

haha...taking advice from someone with an sti?

DO NOT GET A MAF PIPE. simple as that, and if your injen setup you got has the metal maf pipe - i suggest putting the stock rubber one back on. The metal maf pipes F with the sensor on the evo.......also your car does not have a rev limiter at 5k with the clutch in...its more like a rev limit at 8k....so i dont suggest putting the clutch in and holding the gas to the floor

Launching AWD is tough... you may have unintentionally bogged really bad on your launches by not pushing the gas down all the way right at clutch engagement. I'm not a very good 1/4 mile guy but when I had my Evo, I got 1.7 60' times by holding the RPMs at 5500-6000 RPM. I would then punch the gas and quickly engage (nearly dump) the clutch at the 2nd to the last yellow light.

An engine is an engine....they all perform the same task. And when it comes to turbocharged engines, they all take to the same exact mods to make power.

Just because I own a STI doesn't mean I don't know anything about the DSM's/Evo's. I've had my hands on more than enough 4G63's to make myself dangerous.

Buschur's newest metal MAF pipe works just fine on my buddy's Evo.

Also, last time I checked, his Evo has a 2-step at 5500RPM that makes 10psi of boost.

Tim, I believe the 05 and newer Evos have the 2-step. The 03 and 04 don't have it. Mitsubishi added it on the newer Evos to try to save transfer cases.

Evolution(OH) has an 03 so LateSleeper is correct in his statement that the 03 does NOT have 2-step.

Slorice, down boy down...it's ok to step off the soapbox every once in awhile....LOL
The MAF hard pipe has had numerous issues with no real tuning gains on Evos in general. Maybe Eric has had success with it but probably 90% of Evo owners will run an intake filter with the stock pipe. It's been renowned to give erratic air flow readings with the hard pipe.

I agree though with getting the full TBE, some type of intake, some type of boost controller, and custom tune....otherwise with a flash, it'll be pricey getting flashes for individual bolt-ons.

I really need to start using my engineering degree to start designing and making my own parts for various cars that actually work. It's amazing how many crap parts are on the market.

Either way, at least get a turboback, intake and boost controller, then get a flash.

Spotted a BBY VIII on I-480 getting off @ the Great Northern mall exit around 5 pm today (5/6/06) THe wife and I were in the black civic infront of you, with 900hp.
I just didn't want to show it off to you at the time. Nice car BTW! What drop do you have on it currently?

Spooted a WW VIII in Mentor about 20 times in the past two weeks. Saw you tonight driving around with a gray RX-8. Also, always see you at the old Ford dealership on Mentor Ave. on the weekends
