The C5Z is a damn nice track car, but I can't get over the hillbilly stigma attached to those cars. Every redneck that makes a dollar buys a Vette. Oh well, I'm sure one of these days I'll break down and buy one, but for now I am fighting the feeling.

If you are considering stepping up to a larger wheel/tire combo I might be interested in your tires Greg.
At Putnam it wasn't Danny. It was a Raft Vette, but it wasn't being driven by Danny.

Danny's car is still not together yet, and he was not at Putnam. He doesn't run in my TT class anyway.

There were several Z06's there with his handywork on them. I would LOVE to take one for a spin once, just to see....

I could always sell the Evo and pick one up. If you can't beat 'em....

There closed end, but I believe there extended.

Greg, Z06 is BAD ***. My friend has a 2004 car is mean, like I said that competition driving mode they got is pretty sick. There insurance wouldn't be much more then the evo, the evo is one step below a corvette.

I'm about 100% certain that a Vette would cost less to insure. The main reason why they are sick and about the only reason why they will dominate an Evo time and time again is because you can fit a 335 Hoosier on the back and a 315 up front if you so desire. End of story.

I am waiting for our brat to arrive to see if I ever stick them in the Evo. If not it will likely be sold for a C5Z. I don't drive the Evo in the rain or snow so why not get a Vette. If my DSM ever decides to function properly on its own I'll still have an AWD car.

100% certain it doesn't. I Was told by more then one insurance guy, that the evo is one letter below a corvette. Cars are rated by a letter system in insurance. It would also have alot to do with your age.

Also The evo is alot eaiser of a car to drive fast. A vet takes ALOT more driver skill. I wouldn't say the only reason is because of tires. Vet motors have gobs of torque at almost every rpm, they brake incredably, and thats all in stock form. Not to mention they weigh about the same as a evo does. Both are Fantastic cars!

I just meant that you can give an Evo as much power as you want to throw at it and it will still be nearly impossible to overcome the massive tire advantage.

Why can't hillbillies stick to other crappy cars like WS6 Trans Ams.

Maybe they're capable of it, but I haven't seen it!

Nick has it right, it's all about the tires. I'm right there power-wise, brakes are a draw, and if I could run 315 Hoosiers too, it would be on. I just give up too much in the tire department. Lucky for me I don't think there are any TTA Vettes in my region this year. I'll be shooting for 'best of the rest' at Nationals.

Yeah, looks like you are looking at a widebody or a Vette Greg. The Vette sounds much cheaper.

Yeah, but the Evo is almost paid off. I don't want to start all over again. Maybe it's time to buy a Spec race car.
