rain doesn't level the playing feild, it wastes the 30 bucks you spent to race. AWD is for more grip.

Rain isn't very fun at Scarlet. There are too many off course obstacles like curbs and trees Not to mention it is super slick with the sealant

have you ever autoxed in the rain??? I for one can tell you that its not fun. Depeneding on tires, your *** has to go slow to keep the evo to respond to stearing imput. Slow to me is not fun. Not to mention when there is chances you *** can hit a tree, curb or other object, no thats not enjoyable.

not to mention standing out having to work the course..

Racing in the rain is fun. Standing in the rain for 9 hours to race for 5 minutes is not fun. On another note, I ran within 6 seconds of Buschurs Time Attack car today at BeaveRun. Not too shabby considering I drove the car here AND got 28 mpg doing so. Oh, and that time was at only 16 psi. I either have a bum Hallman, or I have a wastegate problem. I'm going to swap mbc's tomorrow and see if it's any better. The track has two 120 mph straights, and not running at least 22 psi is killing my drive down the straights.

It was the Hallman. Thanks to Keith from Pure Tuning in Toledo for taking care of it this morning for me. The fix was enough to take another 2 seconds off my best lap time and give a prepped C5 Z06 fits all day long. We were basically dead even on track all day. Both of us got bumped up to HPDE 4 also. Did any of you guys run today???

Man I didn't get to my pc yesterday and this post just got nailed!

Paul, good to see you are doing well in the weather. Aren't you coming back sometime in July?

Greg, i'm sure you had a blast once that small mechanical problem was fixed. I'm sure that was frustrating as hell! So how did the rotors hold up? Time for a new set?

Brendan, i don't blame you for not showing. it wasn't looking too promising but I took the risk. I had clean runs the entire time -- no cone carnage this time greg I did set the Fastest time of day on street tires (something I realized as the day went along) -- i'm not counting slicks. Hell guys on slicks i think touched a 51.9. Very fast -- I managed a 54.5 with tire pressure at 35 all around. I didn't bother changing it -- just kept it there. The tires made a LOT of noise but was fun.

I will say the new 4pts in the car are very nice! This time I could concentrate on what the car was doing instead of struggling to keep my *** in the seat. heh.

Now, a quest to learn left foot braking...

Nice times Carter. You put 4 point harnesses in you car? Which ones?

Rotors are warped again. Guess it's time for some 2 piece rotors. I also got yelled at (not really, but) by my group leader for not having enough safety equipment in the car. After talking to a few folks, I'm probably going to put a custom roll bar and 5 point harnesses in the car. I'm simply going to fast for the stock belts to keep me safe anymore. Anyone want to sponsor me??? This is starting to get expensive.

I picked up the Schroth harnesses. These are DOT-approved since the mount to the factory anchor points. I like em!

Man that's wild about your rotors. Were temps the same as last time?? Perhaps they are getting too hot too fast with rapid cool down -- that would cause em to warp eh? Yeah you should get that group buy going. Get that and maybe a 8 piston caliper setup from Brembo

Temps were higher, but I don't think that's the problem (after a cool down lap and parking, rotor temps were 750+ and smoking). It looks like pad transfer, and the wheel shake would come and go. I just never knew going into turn one if I was going to have to fight the shake or not. I just got done swapping tires and pads back to the street stuff, and wait tilll you see these pics. The pads started out with at least 1/4" of material left, now they are wafer thin - I can see the backing plate dimples through the compound! I used them very hard, and they were better than at Putnam, I'm just not sure what pads to go with next, and I may do a track specific pad/rotor combo and swap everything for each event.

I looked at the Schroth belts, but I don't think they are enough for what I'm doing. 3" 5 points, with at least a harness bar, probably a roll bar, is in the very near future. It was also strongly suggested that I get gloves and at least a neck roll, if not a Hans device.

Yeah that list is the "pretty serious list". I'm on the lowly autox circuit -- heh, if you can call it that. Might as well get the rollcage and it all done at once!

I didn't mean it like that! I can't cage the car and still use it to cart the kids around (or drive it safely on the street for that matter), so I've got some ideas for a roll bar with a removable cross brace. I'm calling a guy today up in Batavia about building it.
