DAy one even got started a little late because of the line just to get into the track. Gridding was a mess on day one too because of so many cars and no where to go. By day two there was extra help and things began to go smoother. No doubt in my mind that the problems, wrecks included, were due to too many cars.

Smokedmustang,
Well I guess I know who you are now. You had the only Evo that showed up on a trailer. I had a good time either following you or getting chased by you. I hope you get your engine woes ironed out and hopefully I see you at another event.

Take care!
Yes it was surely nice to meet you also, you let me know when you do another event, we will hook up! I trailered the Evo there because.........................if you look at my posts/threads on here........................I tend to break down every other day, and thought for sure I would have to tow it home broke yet again!!!!!!

Another thing, If I did stay the whole day, and not see the serpentine belt getting chewed up, if it came off at speed, I would lose the powersteering, and possibly could have ended up with the Vette! If I did the afternoon, 40 minutes more, it would have come off for sure! It was frayed enough and was hitting the underside of the hood! sheeeesh!

I heard the Corvette driver broke his shoulder? He was damn lucky from the sounds of it. Glad to hear you guys stayed clear of the carnage. Was there only 2 Evos there then? I was by myself last weekend. Where is everybody at???

broken collarbone, that's pretty good for a 130+mph wreck.

lots of EVO's, I'd say 6-7

The driver should make a full recovery, that's always good to hear. A BMW drove straight off into the tire wall at T10, maybe a mechanical problem, but it wasn't a serious impact.

Sunday was much better than Saturday, a little more sun and fewer cars. Group 3 seemed to pay the time price, though. I timed a couple other sessions that were a full 20 minutes from first pit-out to the checker. We had one that was no more than 10.

Saturday morning the track was cold! And with short, slow sessions it was no fun at all. Sunday afternoon times were like 10 seconds faster. In the last session I let the Noble M12 by coming out of T8, but I stayed with him. I like to think that it was because he was trying to distance himself from the lowly sedan that he dropped the hammer too early coming out of 1 and did about 3 full spins going straight off at T2!

Oh, one thing I really didn't like was the corner worker who sat with her back to the track, reading.

T8 right? I don't think I ever saw a single flag or even a wave the entire weekend from that corner.

My wife was there in her Chili Red mini with you. I couldn't go because of work.

There was an M400 the weekend before that did the same thing. I was looking into his passenger side window between 9 and 10 (I was pushing him HARD), he did save it quite nicely though and I would have passed him if it weren't for the checker coming out. An NSX eventually did push him into a spin in between 1 and 2 in another session. Coincidence?!?!

I was there!!! Kevin---does your plate say "DR BUTTER"? I saw it on
the trailer as you were leaving on Saturday. I just knew it had to be
you! Bummer. We didn't bring our Mach 1----all we planned to do was
watch and help a friend who was in A.I. I ended up going out in a Z06
and took my friend's Honda for a few laps.

Next May look for a '96 Cobra, white with a purple stripe down the center.

Plate says RCR GRL or something like that? There were two red Mini's there, IIRC. What group was she in?

OT, but what's up with your Mid-Ohio time? Is that from a long time ago? Even with the bus stop your Putnam and Nelson times should put you way faster than that!

Well good thing we were paying attention. Just like when I was honking and pointint at the workers in T6 about the camaro spewing a LOT of gas onto the track. Lets just say I now know what gas tastes like. I had to pit and tell the pit master. Turns out 2 other cars were doing the same thing. Gas = danger!

What times were the Evo's getting? Also, what's the transition like from HPDE 3 to 4 where passing is allowed on both sides at any time? I'm interested in doing HPDE4 and time trials next year, but need to know what I'm getting myself into. With the lower DE groups there's no prep for the liberal passing rules seen in DE4. I'd hate to just jump into something then have people passing me on the inside of a turn.
