Am I getting jerked around by my dealer??

Okay...so I gave my $2,000 deposit 2 months ago for my Apex Silver Evo 8, and they said the car would be shipped 3/13 and I should see it within a couple of days after that. Yet when I kept calling to get a VIN# for the car they never had one. Finally 3/13 came and I decided to just drive in there (I live about 120 miles away) and see what was up. My car was not there, and they said they STILL had no VIN#. ARGH! The car is supposed to arrive in a couple days according to you and you have no VIN#, yet you had VIN#'s for ALL the other cars 3 weeks in advance of their shipment!??!? WTF?!!?

Well, I finally talk to the sales manager again on 3/17 and he promises to run a track on the car and find out what is up and call me back THAT NIGHT, and that the car will arrive, "..no later than 3/23 for sure...," so I wait. No call back.

Well, on 3/18 I call him back and ask what is up...he kind of sputteres for a while and I ask, "What's up?"

He says he has my VIN# but that my car will now be delayed until 4/1 for me!! ARGH!! What would you do in this situation? Just take it, or ask for compensation? I am using this car for competition in just over a month and expressed when I ordered it that the time table was the most important part of this so I could get some track time in ahead of time, and get some things done to prep the car.. So....what would you guys do??

Fill out a poor customer survey after you take your car. If they try to jerk you around anymore then take your money and walk.

to be honest I dont think the dealer is jerking you around. they have no control over what cars they get and when. that is entirely up to the manufacturer. believe me they WANT the rest of your money! It is just controling the shipment of your car, with a car in that big of demand its hard to get everybody their cars when they want too. It will come

damn dood, you DO have alot of cars!! whewww!

back to the topic...even if they have no control over shipment of your car, they should think about customer service and tell you exactly what's going on instead of beating around the bush. If shipment was delayed then they should've told you look man, here's the situation, i have no control over..blah blah blah. Fill out the customer servey thing and let em know that they really inconvienced you because you told them you needed it @ that certain date for such and such reasons... make them feel bad & throw in extras hahaha

I guess the concensus is that while the dealer is probably not intentionally jerking me around, they are not the smartest when it comes to customer service and just saying, "Here is what is going on...," and such. I guess I just am frustrated because I have to get the car prepped, and get some seat time in it, before One Lap of America in 5 weeks.

We had this discussion extensively on the main Evo forum. The "Expected Ship Dates" on the locator are by no means set in stone. It is perfectly normal for them to wiggle around by up to several weeks. There is nothing that has happened in your case that is particularly unusual, at least as far as the dates are concerned and the dealer certainly has no control over any of it. They can only go by what is on the computer. What I think they could have done was presented this a bit better, and done a better job of following up.

I am just really upset because when a dealer says, "You will have your car by this date and NO LATER," I take that to mean NO LATER!! Not this whole keep moving me back by a week at a time crap. If they cannot 100% guarantee delivery on a date, they should say it and not **** off a customer who has a certain dealine to meet with his car. Know what I mean? I mean, damn, they are 3 WEEKS late now.
